If you meant Samsung DeX for PC instead, use the separate DeX checks below: DeX and Remote Desktop are different connection workflows.
First, identify which connection you’re troubleshooting
Microsoft Remote Desktop connects from the Galaxy tablet into a Windows PC session. The Windows computer is the host, and the tablet runs Microsoft’s Android client. Samsung DeX for PC connects a Galaxy device to a computer to present a DeX experience. Its app, network, cable, and device-support checks do not fix a failed Windows Remote Desktop session. If Microsoft Remote Desktop will not connect
1. Check that the Windows PC can host a Remote Desktop connection
On the PC, open Settings → System → About and check the Windows edition. Microsoft’s host requirements call for Windows Pro; a Samsung tablet cannot make a Windows edition that is not eligible into a supported Remote Desktop host.
Then open Settings → System → Remote Desktop, turn on Remote Desktop, confirm the prompt, and note the PC name shown there. These checks are on the Windows PC, not the tablet. Follow Microsoft’s instructions for setting up the PC.

2. Verify the destination and account in the Android client
In Microsoft’s Remote Desktop client on Android, add a Desktop connection and enter the host’s PC name, Internet domain name, or IP address. Use a Windows account that is permitted to access that PC. A name or address that points to the wrong computer, or credentials for an account without access, will not establish the intended session.
If this is a work or school connection, do not guess at a gateway, feed, or additional sign-in details. Ask your administrator for the organization’s approved connection information. Microsoft’s Android client documentation covers connection setup and the options an administrator may require.

3. Handle an expired-password error directly
If the client reports error 0xf07 or says the password associated with the account has expired, update the password through the account’s normal process and try again with the new password. Re-entering the expired password will not resolve that specific error. For a managed account, use your organization’s password-reset process.
4. Separate a failed connection from a display or input problem
If the session opens but the image is too small, clipped, or in the wrong orientation, adjust the client’s display resolution or orientation. Microsoft notes that resolution changes apply to new connections, so disconnect and reconnect to apply a change to the session.

If typing produces unexpected results, inspect the client’s scancode input setting. If pointer movement or tapping feels wrong, switch between the available direct-touch and pointer mouse modes. These settings affect interaction after connection; they do not repair an unreachable PC or incorrect credentials. See the Microsoft Android client settings reference.
5. Do not expose the PC to the public internet as a quick fix
For access from outside a local network, an organization may require a gateway or another approved remote-access method. Do not casually open Remote Desktop to the public internet to test a connection. Ask your administrator about the supported gateway or VPN setup and follow its security requirements.

If the problem is Samsung DeX for PC
DeX for PC is the right path when you want to use the Galaxy device’s DeX experience on a computer—not when you want the tablet to operate a Windows desktop remotely. For wireless DeX, make sure the Galaxy device and PC are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Wireless connection: Confirm both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, then check whether the DeX PC app needs an update.
- Wired connection: Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable, then follow the prompts on the Galaxy device.
- Managed or public computer: Security software or administrator controls may block DeX. Contact the PC administrator rather than trying to bypass those controls.
- Still failing: Samsung recommends collecting a Samsung Members error report or a DeX log for troubleshooting.
These checks are for DeX connection or screen problems. They are not substitutes for checking Windows Pro eligibility, enabling Remote Desktop, and verifying the destination and account when using the tablet as a Remote Desktop client. Workplace DeX support has separate compatibility limits
Samsung Knox documentation says DeX for PC is no longer supported on devices running Android 15 / One UI 7 or later. It also says Knox Remote Support sessions are no longer supported in DeX mode on Android 16 / One UI 8 or later. These are specific to DeX and enterprise support; they are not general restrictions on using an Android tablet as a client for Windows Remote Desktop. Check the tablet’s software version and your organization’s Knox configuration before relying on DeX-based support. See Samsung Knox Remote Support documentation (last updated November 19, 2025).
Remote Desktop and DeX solve different problems

A Bluetooth keyboard and mouse can make longer remote sessions or DeX use easier to control, but they are optional input accessories—not a fix for a connection failure. Check compatibility with the specific tablet and keyboard layout. Samsung Knox describes DeX as supporting a desktop-like setup with mouse and keyboard in its Knox documentation.
