Netflix may fail on an Element TV because the app or TV needs a restart, the home network is having trouble, or the app is not available for that particular model. Start with a full TV restart, then check whether other apps and devices can connect. Netflix says it is available on many Element TVs in the United States and Canada—not every Element model.
First, identify what is going wrong
The right fix depends on whether Netflix is missing, will not open, crashes, freezes, or cannot connect. Note the full error message or code and your TV’s model number. Netflix offers separate advice for crashes, freezing or loading problems, and a missing app; Element’s instructions can also vary by model and platform.

If the whole TV is unresponsive, focus on restarting the TV before troubleshooting the Netflix app. If only Netflix is affected, continue through the app and network checks below.

1. Fully restart the TV
Turn the TV off and, if it has a power cable, unplug it. Make sure it is fully off rather than in standby, wait 15 seconds, reconnect it, and try Netflix again. Netflix recommends this full restart for TV and streaming-player problems; it can refresh data stored on the device.

If the TV itself is frozen, use the instructions in the manual for your exact model. The Element Fire TV Edition manual advises disconnecting power for a few minutes when the TV freezes, which is different from Netflix’s general 15-second restart guidance.
2. Check whether the network is the problem
If Netflix keeps loading, or other apps and devices also have internet trouble, restart your home network. Unplug the modem and router for 30 seconds, plug them back in, wait for them to reconnect, then try Netflix again. If the connection still fails, ask your internet provider about an outage or help with the router, connection, or DNS.

3. Sign out and back in if Netflix alone is stuck
If other TV functions work and Netflix opens but freezes or stays stuck loading, use the app’s Get Help menu to sign out, then sign back in. Menu layouts differ; if you cannot find the option, follow Netflix’s instructions for your device rather than trying an unverified hidden-menu sequence.
4. Check for a TV software update
If Netflix is missing, or the app continues to misbehave, check for a system update using the instructions for your TV’s platform. For Element Fire TV Edition only, the manual gives this path: Settings → Device → About → Check for System Update. Do not assume the same menu exists on other Element TVs. If the steps are unclear, consult the TV manual or ask Element about the exact model.

If Netflix is missing, confirm model support
Netflix recommends checking for a software update and asking the manufacturer whether the app is available for the TV. An app that is not offered for a particular model will not be restored by repeatedly reinstalling Netflix or resetting the TV. Netflix’s compatibility statement covers many Element TVs in the United States and Canada, so availability can depend on the model and region.
Element’s app-install instructions also apply only to particular named models. Its article about adding apps to certain Element Smart TVs lists Roku Stick, Fire Stick, and Google Chromecast as options; it does not establish that every Element TV supports every option.

Reserve a factory reset for last
A reset can erase saved settings, apps, or data, so try the less disruptive steps first. Before resetting, make sure you can reconnect the TV to Wi-Fi and have your Netflix sign-in details available. Follow the instructions for the exact model; do not use a reset sequence intended for another TV.
Element’s factory-reset instructions are limited to the models named in that article, published March 25, 2020. For those covered models, Element instructs users to press Menu, enter the number zero five times, choose RESET or FACTORY RESET, and confirm. Check the article and your model details before following those steps.

Use an external streaming device if the TV app is unavailable
If Element confirms that Netflix is not available on your TV model, Netflix recommends using another supported device. Netflix lists Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick among its TV streaming-device families. Before choosing an external device, check that Netflix supports it in your country, that it is compatible with your exact TV and an available HDMI input, and that it still receives software support. Consider setup and remote-control convenience as well as the total purchase cost.
