If FFmpeg’s 24/7 YouTube class stream loses Hindi audio, first find where it disappears: check that the intended Hindi speech track exists in the input, explicitly map that track, confirm audio is present in the encoded output, then compare the local output with YouTube’s Live Control Room warning. The title alone does not establish a Hindi-specific issue or identify the cause; it could be the source, stream selection, encoding, YouTube ingest, or a long-running output or network failure.
What to collect before changing the command
Capture evidence around the moment the audio drops. Keep the stream key private; redact it anywhere you share a command or log.

- FFmpeg version and the full command with the stream key redacted.
- The input stream listing from
ffprobe, including audio stream indexes and any language or disposition metadata. - FFmpeg’s output header and log lines surrounding the dropout.
- A local recording or capture of the output, if available.
- The time and exact wording of the warning in YouTube Live Control Room, plus whether the stream uses RTMP or HLS.
YouTube says Live Control Room stream errors include timestamps and remain visible while unresolved; use the timestamp to compare the dashboard warning with your FFmpeg logs (YouTube: Fix video streaming issues).
Trace the audio from input to YouTube
1. Verify that the Hindi track is present and audible
Play the source around a time when Hindi speech should be heard. If it has multiple audio tracks, identify which one contains the intended speech; a language label or other metadata can be wrong or incomplete. If the track is absent or silent in the source, changing FFmpeg’s output mapping will not restore it.

2. Inspect stream indexes, then map the intended track explicitly
Use the input listing to determine the actual audio index. With that index in hand, the diagnostic mapping pattern is:
-map 0:v:0 -map 0:a:<index>Replace <index> with the index confirmed from your input; do not guess it. FFmpeg documents that explicit -map options select the streams for an output, and automatic stream selection does not fill in additional streams for that output once mappings are used (FFmpeg documentation: Advanced options). Avoid -map 0:a unless you have confirmed the input contains exactly the audio track or tracks you intend to send. Mapping decides which streams are included; codec settings separately decide how selected audio is encoded.

3. Confirm the output actually carries audio
Read FFmpeg’s output header and inspect a local output recording or capture. Check that the intended audio stream is listed and that it remains audible around the reported dropout. If the input contains the track but the output does not, investigate the mapping and encoding command before changing YouTube settings.

For RTMP, YouTube’s general error guidance identifies absent or multiple audio streams, unsupported codecs, bitrate, sample-rate and channel-configuration problems. Its listed error messages recommend 128 Kbps audio and identify 44.1 kHz as the expected sample rate in those cases (YouTube: Fix video streaming issues). Treat those values as guidance for the specific warning, not a diagnosis by themselves. YouTube’s API health reference recommends 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz and one or two channels, and flags codec, bitrate, sample-rate and primary/backup mismatches (YouTube Live API: LiveStreams resource).

YouTube’s RTMP error guidance describes H.264 video and AAC audio as the standard target. Follow the exact error shown for your stream and verify which ingest protocol you selected before applying codec advice. For HLS, YouTube’s documentation lists AAC, AC3 and EAC3 audio (YouTube: Set up an HLS live stream); do not assume RTMP guidance automatically describes an HLS stream.
5. Compare local output with the remote stream
YouTube advises checking the encoder output directly, routed audio and video sources, encoder errors, CPU load and a local archive. If the encoder and local output are healthy but viewers report missing audio, investigate outbound network health and YouTube’s stream metrics. As YouTube puts it, “If your stream looks and sounds healthy, there may be an issue with your outbound Internet connection” (YouTube Help).

Use FIFO recovery only for evidence of output failure
FFmpeg’s FIFO pseudo-muxer can retry a failed network output, but queue overflow behavior matters: its option to drop packets can let encoding continue while omitting stream content (FFmpeg documentation: FIFO pseudo-muxer). Do not enable packet dropping as a fix for an audio track that was never mapped. First establish from logs that the problem is a failed or stalled output, rather than a missing track or incompatible audio configuration.

Share the FFmpeg version, redacted command, input stream listing, relevant output header and log lines, local archive result, ingest protocol, and timestamped YouTube health warning. Never share the stream key. Those details distinguish a source or mapping correction from an encoding adjustment, an output-recovery issue, or a network/ingest investigation.
