If FFmpeg stops when it reaches a Hindi filename, first identify how that filename reaches FFmpeg. If your input is an FFmpeg concat script, its default safe=1 setting can reject paths outside a restricted portable-character set. For a trusted local playlist, try -safe 0 before the input’s -i option. But do not assume Devanagari itself is the cause: the problem may be the path passed by your shell or app, the playlist format, or an unrelated media error.
First identify the failing layer
The title alone does not reveal your operating system, FFmpeg version, command, playlist type, or error message. Check these in order before changing flags:

- Check the exact path. Confirm the file exists where FFmpeg expects it. Compare the filename, directory, spelling, extension, and any spaces or special characters with the command or playlist entry. Make sure the shell or application is passing the intended path.
- Identify the playlist format. The
-saferemedy below is for FFmpeg’s concat demuxer, which reads a text script withfiledirectives. Do not apply concat-specific flags to another playlist format without checking how that format is handled. - Read the full FFmpeg error. A path or open error points to a different problem than a format, codec, or stream-compatibility error. If the error changes after the file opens, diagnose the new message rather than repeating the filename fix.

Check the script format and path syntax
A concat script starts with the exact marker ffconcat version 1.0 on its first line, without a byte-order mark. It then lists files using file directives. For example:

file 'अगला गीत.mp4'In concat scripts, special characters and spaces in paths must be escaped with a backslash or enclosed in single quotes. The example uses single quotes; confirm the actual paths and quoting in your own script.
Allow trusted paths outside the safe character set
The concat demuxer’s safe option defaults to 1, which rejects paths containing characters outside its documented portable-character set. If the playlist is one you trust and that check is the cause, set -safe 0 before -i:

ffmpeg -f concat -safe 0 -i playlist.txt -c copy output.mp4Here, -safe 0 disables the concat demuxer’s filename restriction. Keep it scoped to trusted playlist content. The example’s -c copy and MP4 output are illustrative, not a guarantee that every set of inputs can be copied into that container or used in every workflow; choose compatible inputs and output settings for your case.
If the file opens but the stream still stops
Opening a file successfully only resolves the path-access problem. The concat demuxer requires the inputs to have the same streams, codecs, and time base. If those do not match, a filename change or -safe 0 will not make the media compatible. Inspect the complete error and distinguish demuxing or codec complaints from path errors; container readability and codec support are separate questions.

Check your FFmpeg build and invocation
No FFmpeg version or operating system is specified here, and installed builds can differ from current documentation. If your build does not recognize the option or behaves differently, check the version with ffmpeg -version and consult the documentation matching that build. Also verify how your shell, script, or streaming application passes the filename; a correct path in a concat file cannot compensate for a different or incorrectly passed input path.
