If your Fitbit has stopped vibrating, first check whether the problem affects every alert or only phone notifications. A silent notification points toward phone delivery or notification settings; silent alarms and other device alerts suggest checking the Fitbit’s vibration and quiet-mode settings, then restarting it using instructions for your exact model.
Does the Fitbit miss notifications, or is every alert silent?
Use an alarm or another on-device alert to narrow down where to look. Google Health Help Center says a Fitbit can vibrate for alarms, step-goal alerts, and hourly activity alerts. If one of those works but phone notifications do not, start with notification delivery and phone settings. If alarms and other alerts are silent too, check the device settings and continue to a model-specific restart.

Open the settings available on your Fitbit and look for the vibration control. Vibration strength is adjustable, but menu names and locations vary by model; follow the settings guidance for your device in Google’s Fitbit device settings help.

Also check whether Do Not Disturb or Sleep Mode is on. These device modes can suppress notifications, goal celebrations, heart-zone alerts, and reminders to move from vibrating or waking the screen. Turn off the relevant mode temporarily and test an alarm or alert again. If your model offers a separate setting for a particular alert, check that as well.
If only phone notifications are silent, check the phone connection
Android
- Confirm that the phone itself receives the notifications you expect on the Fitbit.
- Check that Google Health can run in the background and that phone Do Not Disturb is off.
- In the Google Health app, open your Fitbit device’s Notifications section and check for the Android-only Always Vibrate setting.

iPhone or iPad
In Bluetooth settings, check whether Share System Notifications is enabled for your Fitbit. If it is already on, Google advises toggling it off and back on. Phone Do Not Disturb or driving mode can prevent the Fitbit from alerting even when notifications reach the device. See Google’s guidance for notifications on iPhone and iPad.
Restart the Fitbit using its own model instructions
Restart steps differ across Fitbit models. Some procedures require connecting the device to its charger, particularly if it is unresponsive. Use Google’s restart instructions for your exact Fitbit model; do not try a button sequence meant for a different device. If restarting does not restore vibration, continue to the update check or contact support.

Check for an available software update
Google says updates can add features and fix device issues, but an available update does not prove outdated software caused the vibration problem. To prepare, charge the Fitbit, keep the companion app current and running, and keep the device near the phone or tablet. Updates are distributed gradually and may take more than an hour.
If an update fails, Google recommends checking the charge, app version, and connection, then restarting the Fitbit and the phone or tablet. Follow Google’s update and update-troubleshooting guidance for the steps that apply to your device.

When to contact Google Health support
If all alert types remain silent after checking vibration strength and quiet modes, restarting by the correct model procedure, and checking for an update, contact Google Health support for a device-specific assessment. The official guidance cited here does not describe a user-serviceable vibration-motor repair or identify a replacement vibration part, so avoid guessing at a hardware fix.
