Fitbit Ace LTE’s notable additions include Tap to Pay and new games announced in Google’s 2024 back-to-school update, plus sibling communication and family challenges described in a May 2026 Google Health Community post. These build on a watch with LTE calling, messaging, GPS location, activity tracking, games and School Time. Most connected features require Ace Pass, and Google currently limits setup and use to the United States, excluding Alaska and U.S. territories.
What the Fitbit Ace LTE does
Google describes Ace LTE as a children’s smartwatch with built-in LTE for calls, messages and location sharing, alongside activity tracking and games in Fitbit Arcade. Its current specifications list calling and messaging with up to 20 contacts, GPS, activity tracking, games, School Time, an alarm clock and Tap to Pay. The core features in Google’s specifications are marked as requiring Ace Pass. Google’s Ace LTE specifications also list compatibility with most Android phones running Android 11 or newer and iPhones running iOS 16 or newer.

Parents add and manage the watch’s contacts. Google’s May 29, 2024 launch announcement said, “There are no ads or third-party apps, and only contacts added by a parent can call or message the device.” That approval model is important: Ace LTE is not presented as an open messaging device for unrestricted contact with strangers or other children.

Features Google highlighted in the 2024 update
Tap to Pay
Google highlighted Tap to Pay in its back-to-school update. The feature is also included in the current specifications, where it is marked as requiring Ace Pass. The announcement establishes that Google promoted the feature in that update; it should not be read as a complete software changelog or proof that every feature is available on every watch software version. Google’s back-to-school update announcement notes that some features require the latest software.

New games and school settings
The same update highlighted new games and school settings. School Time is among the features in Google’s current specifications. The announcement does not establish that every game or school setting was introduced for the first time in 2024, nor does it provide a full list of titles and settings. For the current feature set, check the watch and Ace app after updating rather than treating the announcement as a complete changelog.
Family features described in May 2026
Siblings can call and message—with parent setup
A Google Health Community announcement dated May 13, 2026 described a Family Matters update: siblings in the same Google Family group can call and message each other if they are added as contacts in the Ace app. This is a specific family-group and parent-managed contact feature, not unrestricted friend-to-friend messaging. The announcement does not establish a comprehensive rollout schedule or regional availability, so families should check current Ace app and watch software for access. Family challenges and rewards
The same announcement describes family challenges that can unlock early access to games and rewards. It presents these as a way for family members to participate together; it does not specify a complete challenge catalogue or guarantee that every family will see the same challenges at the same time.
Do Ace LTE bands add features?
Google describes Ace Bands as customisation accessories that can also unlock associated experiences, including activity challenges, collectible items for the eejie, and a Noodle. Those are band-associated experiences, not a promise that every band unlocks the same content. Check the exact band listing for its stated compatibility and associated experiences before buying. - Compatibility: The sylacor Charger Dock is designed for the Fitbit Google Ace LTE Kids Smartwatch. (Note: This product includes only the replacement charger).
What you need to use the features
- Ace Pass: Google marks core connected features—including calls and messaging, location, and games—as requiring Ace Pass. The watch’s LTE functions are not a substitute for a phone plan attached to a parent’s handset; check Google’s current service terms and checkout for the plan details that apply to your purchase.
- Eligible location and account: Google says setup or use requires a U.S. Google Account and is limited to the United States, excluding Alaska and U.S. territories. Google’s setup and availability guidance.
- Wi-Fi for updates: Software updates require a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network; 5 GHz is not compatible with the update process, according to Google’s support guidance at the same link.
- Compatible phone: Google lists most Android phones on Android 11 or newer and iPhones on iOS 16 or newer. The watch also needs Wi-Fi and Ace Pass for setup, according to its technical specifications.
What to check before buying
Ace LTE makes most sense for families who want parent-approved calls and messages, location features, school controls and game-based activity experiences in one child-focused watch. Before comparing it with another connected watch, check who the child can contact, the ongoing connectivity cost, regional eligibility, school controls, how games and incentives are managed, and battery expectations. The official information here does not establish a current comparative ranking against other watches.
Google’s May 29, 2024 launch announcement gave launch-era Ace Pass prices of $9.99 per month or $119.99 for an annual subscription; the annual option included a collectible Ace Band at launch. Those are historical terms, not verified current pricing. Confirm the current subscription price and terms at Google checkout. Google’s specifications describe maximum battery-life figures as approximate and based on tests using pre-production hardware and software, so they should not be treated as guaranteed day-to-day battery life. Google named Amazon as a sales channel at launch, but that does not confirm current stock, listing details or pricing. Check the retailer’s current listing before ordering.
