The Fisher & Paykel CI754DTB2 is a 75 cm, four-zone induction cooktop with useful functions such as PowerBoost, GentleHeat and per-zone timers. Its published specifications make it a feature-rich option, but they do not establish how well it performs in independent testing. It is also listed as discontinued by CHOICE Australia, while Fisher & Paykel still lists it on its China-market site—so availability depends on where you live.
What is the Fisher & Paykel CI754DTB2?
CI754DTB2 is a black-glass, Series 7 Contemporary induction cooktop. Fisher & Paykel lists four cooking zones, nine heat settings and Touch and Slide controls with a dual-colour display. Its dimensions are 750 mm wide, 530 mm deep and 49 mm high; those are the appliance dimensions, not the required benchtop cutout. Fisher & Paykel product listing

The feature list suggests flexibility for everyday cooking, from high heat to gentler cooking, but it is not a substitute for independent performance results. No hands-on test is available here, and the public CHOICE Australia listing does not disclose its member-only scores.

What do the cooking zones and controls offer?
Fisher & Paykel publishes different normal and PowerBoost outputs for each zone:
#1 Best Overall
| Zone | Normal output | PowerBoost output |
|---|---|---|
| Left front | 2300 W | 3700 W |
| Left rear | 1400 W | 2200 W |
| Right front | 1850 W | 3000 W |
| Right rear | 1850 W | 3000 W |
The manufacturer describes PowerBoost as a way to reach very high heat and says it can bring liquid to a boil in less than a minute. That is a product claim, not an independently verified boil-time result; actual results depend on the pan, amount of liquid and other conditions. Fisher & Paykel product listing
Touch and Slide controls select among nine heat settings. GentleHeat is intended for lower-heat cooking. The cooktop also has an automatic cutoff timer for each zone and a separate minute timer, giving you options to time a cooking zone or keep track of another task. The manufacturer lists these functions but does not provide independent results for temperature consistency or low-heat performance.

- COOKING SURFACE: 36-inch black ceramic glass cooktop with 5 elements provides versatile cooking options and sleek modern design
- HEATING ELEMENTS: Features 4 standard elements and 1 high-powered red ceramic element for rapid heating and precise temperature control
- CONTROL PANEL: Touch-sensitive controls with LED display offer easy operation and clear visibility of heat settings
- SAFETY FEATURES: Hot surface indicators, automatic shutoff protection, and child lock functionality ensure safe operation
- DIMENSIONS: 36 inches wide cooktop designed for standard countertop installation, perfect for modern kitchen layouts
What safety features does it have?
The listed protections include pan detection, a keylock, safety time out, spill auto-off and hot-surface indicators. Pan detection means the cooktop responds to whether suitable cookware is present; the other features address control locking, unattended operation, spills and residual surface heat. Follow the current market-specific user and installation guidance for how each function operates.
Although induction heats the cookware rather than relying on a glowing element, the glass surface can still become hot from contact with hot pans. Fisher & Paykel says the area around cookware stays cool and describes this as helping prevent baked-on spills, but its own hot-surface indicators are a reminder not to assume the glass is always cool. - Fisher & Paykel electric cooktops feature powerful ribbon elements that heat up quickly and maintain an even temperature. AutoHeat mode boosts power and then automatically adjusts to your chosen setting for faster cooking.
- Precise Control - The cooktop touch controls are easy to use, responsive and accurate across a range of cooking temperatures – from a rapid boil to a slow simmer. The timer function can be used as a simple minute minder.
- Easy To Clean - A flat ceramic glass profile makes cleaning the cooktop fast and simple. Cooktop elements automatically shut down when a spill is detected, minimizing baked-on grime.
- Safety Cut-Off - Spill detection technology automatically shuts off hot elements when pots or pans overflow onto the controls, preventing ruined meals.
- Sized To Suit - These electric cooktops come in a range of sizes to suit every kitchen design. Because they’re perfectly flat and cool down fast, they can be used as an extension to your preparation surface when switched off.
What cookware works on the CI754DTB2?
Use induction-compatible cookware. Cast iron is one option Fisher & Paykel identifies as highly inductive and suitable for high-heat searing, but compatibility should be checked for each pan rather than assumed from its appearance or material label. If a pan is not detected, consult its manufacturer or verify its induction suitability before relying on it for this cooktop. Fisher & Paykel product listing
Will it fit, and what electrical supply does it need?
The listed overall size is 750 × 530 × 49 mm (width × depth × height). Do not use those figures as the cutout dimensions: the opening and clearances depend on the installation configuration. An older Fisher & Paykel data sheet contains clearance diagrams, but it dates to 2014 and directs installers to the installation manual; it should not be treated as current installation instruction. 2014 Fisher & Paykel data sheet

- Complementary Design - The subtle black glass and durable matte black detailing are designed to pair with the Minimal style Series 7 Ovens. With premium styling and detailing, these cooktops seamlessly blend with other appliances for a cohesive, considered kitchen design.
- Enhanced Features - PowerBoost and GentleHeat deliver either very high or very low heat, fast. Perfect for specialized cooking tasks such as searing meat and melting chocolate. An integrated timer ensures a great result every time.
- Safer Choice - Induction cooktops only start heating your pot or pan once you’ve placed it on the ceramic surface and stop as soon as you remove it – so you don’t have to worry about curious little fingers or leaving a cook surface on.
- Easy Cleaning - The surface around your cookware stays cool when you cook – preventing baked-on spills and making cleaning up a breeze. The ceramic cooktop surface, including anodized detailing for durability, just needs a quick wipe after use to maintain its good looks.
Fisher & Paykel lists a 220–240 V supply. Have a qualified installer check the current installation guide for your country, the actual cutout and clearances, and whether your kitchen’s circuit is suitable; overall dimensions alone cannot confirm installation compatibility. The 2026 quick guide lists joining kit part 534731 for an installation that joins two cooktops. It is not a general requirement for a standalone CI754DTB2. Fisher & Paykel 2026 quick guide
What do the efficiency and standby figures mean?
Fisher & Paykel lists 86% heating efficiency, a Grade 3 energy rating and 1 W standby power. These are manufacturer-published figures, not independent household-use measurements. The manufacturer also says induction heats the cookware rather than the cooktop surface; that general description should not be read as a quantified comparison of this model’s real-world energy use. Is the CI754DTB2 discontinued or still available?
Availability is market-specific. CHOICE Australia marks the model discontinued and lists four zones, a 75 cm width and 7.4 kW maximum output; it says the cooktop was tested in 2023 or earlier. The public listing does not show performance, reliability or satisfaction scores, which are restricted to members. CHOICE Australia listing
Fisher & Paykel’s China-market product page remains listed, but that does not establish stock in Australia or any other market. Check with Fisher & Paykel or local retailers for current availability, price and country-specific warranty terms before buying.
Is the Fisher & Paykel CI754DTB2 a good buy?
On paper, it combines four zones, a strong 3700 W PowerBoost setting on the left-front zone, nine heat settings, low-heat functionality, timers and a useful set of safety features. The main reasons to pause are practical: verify that the cutout and electrical installation suit your kitchen, confirm that your pans work with induction, and establish local stock and support.
