If FireShot fails on one website, first identify what is failing: Firefox’s permissions for that site, FireShot’s capture mode, or something else about the capture. In Firefox, review the affected site’s Permissions panel and clear only an unintended changed permission; then verify that you selected the whole-page mode rather than the visible-area mode. These are separate checks, and a site-permission change is not a guaranteed fix for every FireShot problem.
Identify the exact failure before changing settings
Note what happens when you try to capture the affected page. The fix depends on whether the toolbar or menu does nothing, the screenshot contains only the visible viewport, some page content is missing, a permissions prompt appears, or the result will not save.

- Record your browser and version, operating system, FireShot version, affected site, and the capture mode you selected.
- Copy the prompt or error text exactly. If a prompt appears, note whether its buttons respond.
- Check whether the same problem occurs on other sites and whether a visible-area capture works on the affected site.
This distinction matters: in one forum post, a user reported that visible-area capture worked in Chrome while the buttons on an additional-permissions prompt did not. That report concerned Chrome 129 and FireShot 2.0.2.2 on a Mac; it is an individual report, not a confirmed cause or evidence that the same issue affects Firefox. A screenshot of only the viewport may be the expected result if the visible-area mode was selected. FireShot distinguishes among capturing the visible area, a selected area, and the entire page. Choose the mode that matches what you need, then retry. The FireShot Pro manual documenting these distinctions dates to 2016, so treat its labels as descriptions of the modes—not a guarantee of the exact wording or location in your current version. Review the affected site’s permissions in Firefox
Firefox’s per-site permissions are distinct from the permissions FireShot itself requests as an extension. Mozilla documents the site controls in the address-bar Permissions panel. Mozilla Support: Site Permissions panel
- Open the affected website in Firefox.
- Look for the Permissions icon in the address bar. Mozilla says this icon appears when special permissions have been granted; it may be absent when the site is using the default settings.
- Open the panel and review the permissions listed for that site.
- If you find a changed permission that should not apply, use its X to clear that entry. Mozilla says clearing it restores the default for that permission type. Avoid changing unrelated settings.
- If the permission you need to inspect is not listed there, open the site-information panel and use Page Info to view other permissions.
- Retry the same FireShot mode on the site and compare the result.
Clearing an entry restores that permission type’s default; it does not establish that permissions caused the FireShot failure. If the problem persists, record the comparison rather than repeatedly changing settings.

Do not confuse Firefox site permissions with FireShot’s extension permissions
The Firefox add-on listing identifies permissions for the FireShot extension, including access to data for all websites. Those are extension-level permissions, not the per-site controls in Firefox’s Permissions panel. The listing showed version 1.12.18 last updated June 5, 2023 and noted a newer v.2 rollout via the developer’s site; that information does not establish which release is current or available through every installation channel. Check the version and source of your own installation before following version-specific guidance. FireShot Firefox add-on listing

Retry once, then escalate with useful details
After checking the capture mode and any relevant Firefox site permission, retry the same capture on the affected page. If useful, compare the visible-area and entire-page results, and note whether the issue is limited to that site. The available documentation does not establish that a particular site permission fixes every site-specific capture failure.

If your goal is to capture a website from code rather than troubleshoot a browser extension, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Before capture, it accepts the cookie or consent banner like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses indicate the page verdict and whether the request was billed.
For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot of Stripe:
