It contains three DLC waves sold together: Wave 1’s prototype weapons, Wave 2’s new gods and outfits, and Wave 3’s character stories, recruitable allies, and classes. You must own the full base game, and Nintendo does not sell the waves separately.
Wave 1 is available now. Nintendo’s U.S. store lists October 14, 2026, while a regional Nintendo announcement says the pass launches on October 15. That one-day difference reflects storefront or regional timing, not different content. Wave 2 is scheduled for holiday/winter 2026, and Wave 3 is planned for 2027; neither later wave has an announced day.

What the Expansion Pass includes
The pass is a single digital purchase that unlocks all three planned DLC waves as Nintendo releases them. Nintendo describes the product as a way to “Expand the saga with new stories, allies, and more.” The purchase is tied to the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, not to a standalone application.

Purchasing the DLC gives access to all three waves “as they release,” according to Nintendo’s product information. You do not need to buy another pass when a later wave arrives.

Wave 1: prototype weapons for the four heroes
Wave 1 adds a prototype weapon for each of the game’s four heroes. Nintendo says the designs are modeled after the Heroes’ Relics from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. That establishes the weapons’ inspiration and their connection to the wider Fire Emblem setting, but Nintendo has not published a complete list of weapon names, attack values, skill effects, upgrade paths, or restrictions in the information available for this release.
When Wave 1 became available
Nintendo’s U.S. store page gives October 14, 2026 as the release date and lists the content as available. A separate regional Nintendo announcement says the Expansion Pass launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 15. For players, the practical result is that Wave 1 is the currently released wave; the date difference should be treated as a regional or storefront timing distinction rather than two launches.
What the weapon description does and does not promise
- Confirmed: all four heroes receive prototype weapons.
- Confirmed: the designs draw on the Heroes’ Relics from Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
- Not stated: whether the weapons are available from the beginning of a new game, require a story milestone, or use a separate claim menu.
- Not stated: their exact statistics, durability, abilities, or compatibility with difficulty modes.
If you are buying the pass mainly for Wave 1, you can access that content now, but you should not infer specific balance effects or unlock conditions from the “Heroes’ Relics” reference alone.

Wave 2: three gods and new outfits
Wave 2 expands combat with three named gods: Aurora, Smyrnos, and Jurah. Nintendo also lists new wearable outfits in this wave. The official descriptions establish that the three figures join battles, but they do not yet specify whether they are permanent party members, temporary guest units, summonable entities, or characters unlocked through a particular quest. Details such as weapon types, growth rates, supports, recruitment conditions, and outfit bonuses have not been announced.
Release window
The Nintendo support and store pages place Wave 2 in holiday 2026. Nintendo’s U.S. news copy calls the window winter 2026. No exact date is available, so “holiday/winter 2026” is the most precise schedule currently supported by Nintendo’s listings.
Rank #2
- Reawaken as a Divine Dragon and take down a thousand-year-old threat
- Take on turn-based, tactical combat and use Emblem Rings to customize your strategy
- Collect Emblem Rings and use them to summon heroes from past Fire EmblemTM games
- Fire EmblemTM Engage launches on January 20, 2023 alongside Fire Emblem Engage: Divine Edition featuring a steelbook case and art book
An inconsistency in Nintendo’s naming
Nintendo’s U.S. news article mentions “Mars, Aurora, Smyrnos, and Jurah” when describing Wave 2. Nintendo Support, the U.S. store page, and Nintendo Malaysia list only Aurora, Smyrnos, and Jurah. Because three official listings agree on those three names, they are the confirmed Wave 2 list. Mars should not be treated as a confirmed additional playable or battle-joining figure unless Nintendo updates the product information.
What the outfit addition means
“New wearable outfits” confirms cosmetic equipment or clothing that can be worn by eligible characters. Nintendo has not said whether the outfits change statistics, provide passive effects, apply to the four heroes or a wider roster, or are available through a menu, quest, or automatic inventory delivery. The announcement therefore supports expecting new customization options, not a specific fashion system or gameplay bonus.
Wave 3: stories, allies, and classes
Wave 3 is the largest story-focused addition in the announced schedule. It features new stories for Bertrand, Talimun, Orchel, and Anatolia, and adds new recruitable allies and classes. The wording indicates additional narrative content connected to those four characters, alongside roster and class expansion, but Nintendo has not published chapter counts, campaign length, recruitment requirements, class lists, or the number of new allies.
Release timing
Wave 3 is planned for 2027. Nintendo has not announced a month, season, or day, so any more specific date would be speculation. A 2027 window also means that buying the pass today involves waiting for this part of the package; it is not available with Wave 1.
What “new classes” could affect
New classes can influence unit roles, equipment access, movement, and progression, but no mechanics have been confirmed for this wave. Until Nintendo publishes class details, players should regard the feature as a promised addition to the game’s roster and progression options rather than assume particular skills or promotion paths.

Release schedule at a glance
- October 14, 2026: date shown on Nintendo’s U.S. store for Wave 1.
- October 15, 2026: date stated in a regional Nintendo announcement for the Expansion Pass launch.
- Holiday/winter 2026: Wave 2, with Aurora, Smyrnos, Jurah, and new wearable outfits.
- 2027: Wave 3, with stories for Bertrand, Talimun, Orchel, and Anatolia, plus new allies and classes.
The October 14 and October 15 references do not indicate separate versions of Wave 1. Storefront availability can cross a calendar date at midnight in one region while an announcement uses another region’s date. Nintendo has not supplied exact dates for either later wave.
Do you need the base game?
Yes. The Expansion Pass requires the full Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave game. It is not a standalone way to play the DLC, and purchasing the pass alone does not provide the base campaign. The supported platform is Nintendo Switch 2.
If you already own the game
Buy the Expansion Pass for the same Nintendo account and Switch 2 ecosystem as your copy of Fortune’s Weave. Wave 1 is the immediate benefit; Waves 2 and 3 will become available through the same pass when Nintendo releases them.
If you do not own the game
You need both the base game and the pass. Nintendo’s U.S. announcement lists a game-plus-pass bundle at $104.99. That is a U.S. list price stated for October 15, 2026; prices, taxes, and bundle availability can differ by country or storefront.
Can you buy the waves separately?
No. Nintendo sells the three waves as one Expansion Pass and does not offer individual wave purchases. You cannot buy only the weapons, only the gods and outfits, or only the story and class content through separate wave listings.

| Purchase approach | What you receive | Best fit | Limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Expansion Pass now | Wave 1 immediately, plus Waves 2 and 3 when released | Players who want the currently available weapons and guaranteed access to later waves | You pay before the later content has exact dates or full feature details |
| Wait before buying | No access to Wave 1 until you purchase the pass later | Players who prefer to wait for more information about Wave 2 and Wave 3 | There is no separate-wave option; waiting does not let you buy only a preferred wave |
| Game-plus-pass bundle | The base game and all three DLC waves | New players who want the complete package | The listed $104.99 price is a U.S. figure and may vary regionally |
The key decision is timing, not choosing among DLC tiers. Buying now gets Wave 1 and locks in access to the announced package; waiting lets you assess later announcements first, but it does not create a cheaper or narrower wave-by-wave purchase path.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How the pass fits different kinds of players
Players focused on weapons and early progression
Wave 1 is the only released content and is the clearest reason to purchase immediately. The four prototype weapons provide new equipment tied to the four heroes, with a visual and thematic connection to Three Houses. Their exact power and unlock method are not yet specified, so the pass should not be treated as a guaranteed difficulty shortcut.
Players who want additional combat characters
Wave 2 is the relevant wave because Aurora, Smyrnos, and Jurah are described as joining battles. It is still scheduled for holiday/winter 2026, and Nintendo has not explained how those additions work in the roster. Buying now gives access when they release, but it does not provide them before the wave launches.
Players who value story and replay variety
Wave 3 is aimed at players interested in new character stories, recruitable allies, and classes. Its 2027 timing makes it the furthest-out part of the pass. The announced content is substantial in scope, but chapter counts, class identities, and ally totals remain unannounced.
What is still unknown
Nintendo has confirmed the themes and broad contents of all three waves, but several practical details remain open. The following points should not be assumed until official product or support pages provide them:
Best Value
- Exact launch times and dates for Wave 2 and Wave 3.
- How Wave 1 weapons are claimed, upgraded, or balanced.
- Whether Aurora, Smyrnos, and Jurah are permanent recruits, special battle units, or another type of combat participant.
- Which characters can wear the new outfits and whether outfits have gameplay effects.
- The number and names of Wave 3 allies and classes.
- Whether Wave 3 stories are integrated into the main campaign or accessed as separate scenarios.
- Any changes to save requirements, difficulty restrictions, or post-game availability.
Keeping these uncertainties separate from the confirmed schedule prevents the pass from being described as offering features Nintendo has not promised.
Price and platform details
Nintendo’s U.S. announcement lists the Expansion Pass at $34.99. The same announcement lists the game-plus-pass bundle at $104.99. These are U.S. list prices cited on October 15, 2026, not universal prices; regional eShop pricing, taxes, currency conversion, and local bundle terms may differ.
The pass launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, according to Nintendo’s regional announcement. A Nintendo Switch version of the pass is not identified in the available product information. Confirm that your base game and Nintendo account are associated with the Switch 2 storefront before purchasing.

Buy the pass now if you own Fortune’s Weave and want Wave 1 immediately or already know you want all three announced waves. Wait if you want to see exact dates and mechanics for the later content before spending, bearing in mind that Nintendo does not sell the waves separately. The confirmed roadmap is straightforward: prototype weapons are available now, the three named gods and outfits are scheduled for holiday/winter 2026, and the new stories, allies, and classes are planned for 2027.
