To reach the familiar commands in Windows 11 File Explorer, right-click a file or folder and choose Show more options. The first menu is streamlined; common actions such as Cut, Copy, Paste, Rename, Share, and Delete appear there, while some older app commands may be in the expanded menu.

How to open both File Explorer context menus

  1. In File Explorer, right-click a file or folder. On a touch device, select and hold the item.

When the command is not in either menu

Whether an app appears in the new menu depends on the app developer. Microsoft recommends contacting the developer for information about support and timing. Its guidance does not specify a Windows setting for adding, removing, or reordering arbitrary entries, nor does it establish a particular third-party utility or registry procedure.
