If you cannot see the icon, check the keyboard toolbar’s three-dot menu or enable the toolbar in Samsung Keyboard settings. The exact labels and layout can vary by device and One UI version. Samsung’s instructions cover the standard method.
Open clipboard history with Samsung Keyboard

In the app containing the item, select the text and choose Copy. For an image, use the app’s copy command where available—for example, Samsung documents copying a photo in Gallery or long-pressing an image in Samsung Internet and choosing Copy image. Some apps do not allow their content to be copied. Samsung’s clipboard guidance describes these limits.

Open the app where you want to paste the item and tap a text-entry field to bring up the on-screen Samsung Keyboard.

Tap Clipboard in the keyboard toolbar, then tap the copied text or image to paste it. Depending on the screen, you may also be able to open Clipboard by long-pressing the text field or using its three-dot menu. Samsung Colombia’s guidance describes those alternate entry points.

Make the Clipboard icon appear
If Clipboard is missing from the visible toolbar, open the keyboard toolbar’s three-dot menu and look for Clipboard. If it is in the available tools, drag its icon into the visible toolbar. If the toolbar itself is hidden, open Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings and enable the keyboard toolbar. The menu names or placement may differ across software versions. Samsung’s setup instructions show the relevant controls.
Check which keyboard is active
These steps are for Samsung Keyboard. If your device is using a third-party keyboard, its clipboard controls may be elsewhere or it may not offer clipboard history; check that keyboard’s own settings or support information. Samsung notes that interfaces and availability can differ by keyboard, device and One UI version. Samsung’s overview explains the variation.

What the Galaxy clipboard can store
Samsung describes Clipboard as temporary storage for copied or cut text and images. Documents, audio and video files cannot be copied to the clipboard according to Samsung’s Russia support guidance; copying text or images may also be unavailable in individual apps.

Copy screenshots and selected text
On supported software, Samsung Keyboard settings include an option to save screenshots to the clipboard. Samsung Japan identifies this capability as available on Android 13 or later; screenshots taken while the option is off are not added retroactively after it is enabled. Check Samsung’s screenshot guidance for the setting and version qualification.
AI Select and Circle to Search can also copy selected or extracted text to the clipboard on compatible devices. These are ways to select or extract content; they are not where you open ordinary clipboard history. Samsung’s US One UI 8.0 guide lists AI Select for the Galaxy S25 and S24 series, Z Fold7, Z Flip7, Z Flip7 FE and Tab S11 series. Eligibility is specific to that guide and software rollout. Samsung’s One UI 8.0 guide has the listed device support.

Do you need a physical keyboard?
No. The clipboard can be opened from the on-screen Samsung Keyboard; a physical keyboard accessory is not required. Samsung describes tablet keyboard covers as optional, separately sold typing accessories, not as a way to access clipboard history. Samsung’s keyboard guidance covers the on-screen keyboard.
