First identify what is missing: the Microsoft Store app itself, a product listing, an item in your library, or a download that will not complete. Each points to a different fix. A missing listing alone does not mean an app was deleted; availability can depend on your account, region, family settings, device compatibility, publisher availability, or a pending Windows restart.
Which Microsoft Store problem are you seeing?
- Store is missing: You cannot find or open the Microsoft Store program.
- A listing is missing: You cannot find a particular app or game in the Store catalog.
- A previous download or purchase is missing: The item does not appear where you expect in your library or purchase records.
- Download or installation is stuck: You can see the item, but cannot download or install it.
- An installed app is malfunctioning: The app is on your PC but does not work correctly.
Use the matching section below rather than treating all five situations as a single “missing app” problem.

If Microsoft Store itself is missing
- Open Start and search for Microsoft Store. If it appears, open it. It may simply have been unpinned; pin it to Start or the taskbar if you want quick access.
- If it does not appear, check whether you are signed in with a Microsoft account. Microsoft notes that the Store app may not be available when you use a local account.
- If this is a work-managed PC, ask your administrator whether Store access has been disabled by policy.
If a particular app or game is missing from the Store
Check these causes before assuming the app has been removed from your PC:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Account: Confirm you are using the Microsoft account you expect.
- Country or region: The listing may not be available in your current region.
- Family settings: Family controls can affect whether an app is visible or available.
- Publisher availability: The publisher may have removed the app from the Store. A historic Store listing does not guarantee that the item remains downloadable.
- Device compatibility: Microsoft Support says the Store automatically hides or blocks the purchase button for apps that are incompatible with your device.
- Restart and authorization: A recent Windows update may require a restart before installation. Microsoft also says a PC must be authorized to use Microsoft Store apps.
If an owned app or previous download is missing
- Open Microsoft Store and select My Library.
- Find the app or game. A Download icon indicates that the item has not been downloaded yet.
- For a specific Microsoft purchase, check your Microsoft account’s Order history while signed in with the account used to buy it.
- If you bought the software from a third-party retailer, contact that seller for download and product-key details.
If the Store will not open or downloads behave oddly
Reset the Store cache
- Press Windows key + R to open Run.
- Enter
wsreset.exeand select OK. - A blank Command Prompt window should open. Microsoft says it closes after about ten seconds, and Microsoft Store then opens automatically.
Check Windows updates and time or location settings
If the Store still will not open, check for Windows updates and verify that your time and location settings are correct. If an update has just been installed, restart the PC before trying the installation again.

If an installed app is malfunctioning
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find the app, open its menu, and select Advanced options if that option is available.
- Select Repair. If Repair is unavailable or does not fix the problem, select Reset.
Windows does not provide these options for every app. Repair and Reset apply to an installed app that is misbehaving; they do not restore a Store listing that is unavailable or resolve an account or region restriction.
