On Android, you can check Google Find Hub for a compatible pair of headphones’ last-known location, but a headset that is switched off generally cannot send a new live location. Whether it appears at all depends on the model and whether you set it up with Find Hub before it went missing.
Can I find my Bluetooth headphones if they are turned off?
Usually, you can’t get a new live location from headphones that are powered off. Find Hub may still show where they were last online or detected, which can give you a useful lead but does not prove they are still there.

Google’s instructions for finding a device after shutdown apply to supported phones, such as Pixel 8 series—not headphones. Google says those phones may be locatable for several hours after being turned off if Find Hub network settings are enabled and Bluetooth and Location were on at shutdown. That phone feature is not evidence that powered-off headphones can be tracked in the same way. Google’s Find Hub help explains the distinction.
How do I find lost Bluetooth headphones on Android?
- Open Find Hub. Use the Find Hub app or visit android.com/find and sign in with the Google account used with the headphones. Google says the mobile app provides the best results for finding items through its network.
- Check whether the headphones are listed. If they were previously connected but do not appear, open Settings > Connected devices, select the headphones, and look for Find when disconnected > Add. Availability and exact labels vary by Android version and manufacturer; some steps require Android 14 or later.
- Interpret the map carefully. Treat a displayed location as a last-known clue, not a live guarantee. Find Hub can use encrypted stored location information for offline items. Sony also says its app may show the last-known location when a device is turned off after it has been located.
- Search the location and your route. Check the charging case, pockets, bag compartments, furniture gaps, and places where you last used the headphones. If they may be nearby and still powered, try any ring or nearby-finding option available for that model.
- Check the manufacturer’s app and model help. Find Hub support is model-dependent, so do not assume every Bluetooth headset can be tracked. Sony advises checking the product’s Help Guide for model-specific behavior.
Google describes Find Hub as a crowdsourced network of over a billion Android devices in a 2024 announcement. That figure describes the network’s stated scale, not a success rate or a guarantee that a nearby phone will detect your headphones. Google’s announcement provides that context.

Can Find My Device show the last location of my earbuds?
It may. Google’s current service is called Find Hub, though older instructions and references may use the name Find My Device. A compatible pair needs to have been enrolled before it was lost: Google’s help describes adding headphones through Fast Pair when prompted, or adding a previously connected accessory from Connected devices if that option is available.
The location shown can be from the last time the headphones were online or detected, rather than their present position. Sony’s documented flow also requires powering on and pairing the device before using its Find My Device feature. For a particular Sony model, consult its US support guidance and product Help Guide.

What if the headphones do not appear in Find Hub?
- They may not be compatible. Not every Bluetooth headphone model supports Find Hub accessory finding.
- They may not have been added beforehand. Finding features generally need to be enabled or the accessory enrolled before it goes missing.
- They may be out of power or undetectable. In that case, a fresh location may not be available; check any stored last-known location and search the likely route and nearby places.
- The maker may use a separate app or process. Check the model’s official help rather than assuming its tracking behavior matches another brand’s.
How can I make headphones easier to find next time?
Before a loss, confirm that your specific model supports Find Hub and add it to your Google account using the available setup prompt or Connected devices setting. You can also attach a compatible Bluetooth tracker tag to the headphone case. A tag helps locate the case and does not track headphones that have been separated from it or switched off.
