FCC Grants Conditional Covered List Exemption to Two Matic Robot Models

The FCC’s conditional exemption names two Matic devices: floor cleaner Model 4MA0001 and charging dock Model 4DK0008. It is not a blanket robot-vacuum clearance.

The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau announced on October 2, 2026, that it had exempted two identified Matic devices from the FCC Covered List after the Department of War granted Conditional Approval. The action covers Matic Robotic Floor Cleaner Model 4MA0001 and Charging Dock Model 4DK0008—not every Matic product or robot vacuum generally.

What did the FCC’s exemption cover?

The notice concerns two specific models: Matic Robotic Floor Cleaner Model 4MA0001 and Charging Dock Model 4DK0008. The FCC Bureau’s action removed those devices from the Covered List for purposes of the relevant FCC authorization rules. It is a device-specific conditional exemption, not a blanket clearance for the Matic brand or for robot vacuums as a category. FCC notice, DA 26-1063; industry report.

Why was the exemption conditional?

Reporting on the notice says the approval depends on Matic complying with its approved onshoring plan and continuing product vetting. A failure to comply, or a false statement or misrepresentation, may lead to termination of the exemption and the equipment’s return to the Covered List. The public reporting does not spell out Matic’s specific manufacturing milestones. FCC notice, DA 26-1063; industry report.

What the decision does—and does not—say

  • It applies to the two models named in the notice; it does not establish the status of other Matic products or future models.
  • It does not exempt robot vacuums or foreign-made robots as a product class.
  • It addresses the devices’ status on the FCC Covered List and their eligibility for FCC authorization; it is not a general product endorsement.

What Matic says about the products

In its October 6, 2026, announcement, Matic said its robots are designed and assembled in California and sold directly. Those are company statements, not findings contained in the FCC action. Matic also describes its perception system as running on the robot and says maps, video, and audio do not leave the home; these privacy and design claims are likewise attributable to the company, rather than independently established by the exemption.
