Fabri’s Frontiers—often called “Fabric Frontiers” or “Fabricated Frontiers”—is a Fabric modpack for Minecraft 1.20.1. To run it with friends, download the separate server pack, install the Fabric loader version that matches that pack, copy the server files into the server folder, and give a small group about 8–12 GB of RAM. One-click hosts can automate most of this, but you still need to verify the current server-pack version, Java requirement, loader version, and uploader on the live CurseForge file page.

What Fabri’s Frontiers is
Fabri’s Frontiers is listed on CurseForge under the slug fabricated-frontiers. The title “Fabric Frontiers” is a common spelling variant, while some hosting pages call it “Fabricated Frontiers.” Use the CurseForge listing and the exact file name when downloading so that you do not accidentally install a similarly named pack.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe pack targets Minecraft 1.20.1 and uses the Fabric mod loader. BoxToPlay describes it as a “Fabric based Minecraft 1.20.1 modpack focused on quest oriented progression, exploration and long term survival.” That sentence is a host’s description rather than a verified statement from the creator, so treat it as a concise description of the intended play style, not as an official design specification.
No dependable public player-count, adoption, or hosting statistics were published in the material available for this guide. The official creator identity also could not be confirmed, and a Modrinth listing was not found. Those gaps make it especially important to use the live CurseForge file list and read the included server-pack instructions before installing.

Check the current pack before installing
Version numbers and page dates can change. A CurseForge snapshot lists Fabri’s Frontiers 5.1.2 as the latest server pack for Minecraft 1.20.1, with earlier server packs including 4.5.2 and 4.3.9. The snapshot contains inconsistent dates, so do not assume that 5.1.2 is still current when you set up your server.
Open the live project page, switch to the files or server-pack area, and confirm all of the following before downloading:

- It is a server pack, not the client-only modpack download.
- The pack version is the one you want every player to use.
- The uploader name and file date are visible and consistent with the project page.
- The included readme or host instructions specify the required Java and Fabric-loader versions.
Uploader credits vary between files. For example, one 4.3.9 server file is credited to Webby_5. That credit alone does not establish who created the modpack, so avoid treating an individual file uploader as the official creator unless the current project page confirms it.
Why the server pack is different from the client pack
A modded Minecraft server has two sides:
- Server files: the loader, server-side mods, configuration files, scripts, and world-management files that run on the host machine.
- Client files: the modpack and configuration installed in each player’s Minecraft instance.
CurseForge lists server downloads separately in a “Minecraft 1.20 Server Packs” section. Downloading the ordinary client modpack and placing it on a server is not a substitute. A server pack is prepared with the files and layout expected by a dedicated server, while the client package is intended to be launched through a player’s modded Minecraft profile.
Every player must install the matching client version on their own computer. Installing mods only on the server will not give players the required client-side files, and a player with a different pack version can receive missing-mod, registry, or network-compatibility errors when joining.

Choose between one-click hosting and self-hosting
Your main decision is whether to let a hosting control panel install the pack or to manage the files yourself.
Recommended Free Tools
| Approach | What you do | Advantages | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|---|
| One-click host | Select the CurseForge pack in the provider’s modpack manager, choose a plan, and start the server. | Fast installation, managed hardware, panel-based restarts and backups where offered. | Monthly cost, provider-specific limits, and possible restrictions on custom files or loader changes. |
| Self-hosted server | Download the server pack, install the matching Fabric loader, copy the files, start the server, and maintain updates yourself. | Control over files, configuration, backups, and hardware. | You are responsible for operating-system setup, Java and loader compatibility, security, storage, and troubleshooting. |
When comparing hosts, ask for five concrete details rather than choosing solely on an advertised “one-click” label:
- How much RAM is included in the selected plan?
- Can you upload or replace custom server files?
- Does the panel support the exact CurseForge server-pack version?
- What backup, support, and recovery features are included?
- Are prices and resource limits recurring plan terms or temporary promotions?
What the available one-click claims mean
Winternode says its Modpack Manager installs more than 300 packs or any CurseForge pack. That indicates broad catalogue support, but it does not by itself guarantee a particular Fabri’s Frontiers file, RAM allocation, or custom-file policy; confirm those points in the panel before paying.
OuiHeberg says a server can be ready in less than two minutes with no technical configuration. “Ready” refers to the provider’s setup process, not to every player’s client installation or to later tuning of RAM, view distance, permissions, and backups.
BoxToPlay advertises one-click installation of CurseForge modpacks, including Fabri’s Frontiers. As with any automated installer, verify that it selects the same Minecraft, pack, and server-pack versions you intend to run.

Prices, included support levels, and custom-upload policies were not established for these offers. Treat those as plan-specific details that must be checked on the host’s current service page.
How much RAM the server needs
For a small group, plan for approximately 8–12 GB of RAM. OuiHeberg states an 8 GB minimum, while Winternode recommends 12 GB and says the pack runs well with 8–12 GB depending on player count and view distance.
| Situation | Practical starting point | What can increase demand |
|---|---|---|
| Small group with moderate settings | 8 GB | More simultaneous players, long view or simulation distances, exploration that generates new terrain, and heavy automation. |
| More headroom for exploration and several players | 10–12 GB | Additional players, high view distance, frequent chunk generation, and large farms or machines. |
These figures are host guidance, not an independent benchmark. RAM alone does not determine performance: CPU speed, storage latency, network quality, Java configuration, world size, and the pack’s individual mods also matter. Start at the lower end only if your host lets you increase memory without rebuilding the server, and watch the server log and tick performance while players explore.
Do not repeat an unverified 6 GB minimum sometimes shown on unattributed pages. It is not tied to a reliable source and should not be used for capacity planning.
Self-hosted installation: step by step
The following sequence follows the general Fabric-modpack server workflow. Keep the downloaded archive unchanged until you have confirmed the pack version and loader requirements.
Rank #4
- Skins! We have biome settlers, city folk, town folk, and more!
- The Nether and all its inhabitants. Fight Ghasts and make friends with Pigmen
- Cross platform play for up to five players between Pocket Edition and Windows 10
- Revamped touch controls, controller support, and a controller mapping screen
- Enhanced Weather effects! Accumulating snow and more
- Confirm the target versions. Write down Minecraft 1.20.1, the exact Fabri’s Frontiers pack version, the required Fabric-loader version, and the Java version stated on the live pack page or in the server archive. The exact loader and Java versions were not confirmed in the available listing, so do not guess them.
- Download the server pack. On CurseForge, use the separate “Minecraft 1.20 Server Packs” area. Do not use the ordinary client modpack file for the dedicated server.
- Prepare a clean server directory. Create a dedicated folder with enough disk space for the initial files, the world, logs, and backups. Keeping this folder separate from other Minecraft instances makes upgrades and rollback safer.
- Install the matching Fabric loader. Use the loader version specified by the pack. A loader mismatch can stop the server before world startup or create mod-resolution errors.
- Copy the server-pack contents. Extract the archive and copy its contents into the server’s base folder, preserving the directory structure. Do not place the archive itself in the folder and assume the server will unpack it automatically.
- Review the included instructions. Read any README, launch script, configuration note, or version file in the archive. It should identify the intended startup method and any first-run actions.
- Accept the game’s terms when prompted. On a first launch, a Minecraft server commonly creates an end-user license file. Follow the server-pack instructions and change only the required setting before restarting.
- Start the server using the supplied method. Use the launch script or command included with the server pack and Fabric installation. Avoid copying a command from a different Minecraft version; the correct memory flags and file name depend on the installed loader.
- Stop and restart cleanly. After the initial files are generated, stop the process through the server console or host panel, then start it again. A clean restart allows configuration and generated files to load consistently.
- Inspect the logs. Check for Fabric-loader errors, missing mods, wrong Minecraft versions, Java errors, failed dependency downloads, or a world that never reaches a ready state. Keep the first successful log as a reference for later upgrades.
An FTP client such as FileZilla is sometimes suggested for uploading files, but that recommendation was not tied to an identified official instruction. Use your host’s documented file manager, SSH/SFTP method, or control panel instead, and verify that hidden files and executable launch scripts are preserved.
Set up each player’s client
Server installation does not install the game for your friends. Each player should create a Minecraft 1.20.1 Fabric profile and install the same Fabri’s Frontiers client version shown on the server. They should launch that profile once, confirm the expected mods load, and then connect using the server address.
- Match the Minecraft version exactly: Fabri’s Frontiers is aimed at 1.20.1.
- Match the modpack release, not merely the major version.
- Use Fabric, not Forge or another loader.
- Keep client configuration files supplied by the pack unless the server administrator instructs otherwise.
- Remove unrelated mods while testing. Extra performance or visual mods can introduce conflicts that look like server failures.
If one player can join and another cannot, compare the two client mod lists, pack versions, loader versions, Java settings, and configuration folders before changing the server.

- Version check: The server log identifies Minecraft 1.20.1 and the intended Fabric loader.
- Pack check: The server files and every client came from the same release.
- World check: The server reaches a ready state and can save and restart without errors.
- Memory check: The selected plan or machine actually provides the promised 8–12 GB range.
- Connection check: A test player can join, move, open inventories, and return after a restart.
- Backup check: A manual copy or host backup can be restored to a separate test directory.
Test with one or two players before opening the server to the full group. Early exploration is a useful stress test because new terrain generation can consume more CPU, storage, and memory than standing in an already generated area.

The server stops immediately
Check the first error in the log rather than the final shutdown message. The usual branches for this pack are an incorrect Java version, an incorrect Fabric-loader version, a client archive used in place of the server pack, or files copied into an extra nested folder. Recheck the live pack page and the archive’s README before changing memory settings.
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
“Incompatible mod set” or missing-mod errors
Compare the server’s pack release with the player’s client release. A player may have installed a newer client while the server still runs an earlier server pack, or vice versa. Reinstall the matching client profile and remove manually added mods until the base pack connects.
The loader reports an unsupported Minecraft version
Fabri’s Frontiers is intended for Minecraft 1.20.1. Confirm that the launcher profile, server files, and Fabric loader all target 1.20.1. Do not substitute a loader built for another 1.20.x release unless the current pack instructions explicitly allow it.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Players experience lag while exploring
First check available RAM and reduce view distance if the host exposes that setting. Winternode’s guidance specifically links the 8–12 GB range to player count and view distance. If memory is already adequate, examine CPU usage, storage wait time, and the number of players generating new chunks. Adding RAM cannot fix a CPU or disk bottleneck by itself.
The server starts but players cannot connect
Separate a network problem from a mod problem. Test locally or through the host panel, then verify the address and port, firewall rules, and whether the process is actually listening. If the connection reaches the server but is rejected during login, return to the version and mod-list comparison instead of changing network settings.
Updating safely
- Record the current pack version, loader version, Java version, server files, and world location.
- Make a complete backup of the world, configuration files, and server-pack archive.
- Read the current CurseForge file notes and confirm that a newer server pack still targets Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Install the update in a separate test folder first when possible.
- Start the test copy, inspect logs, and load a backup world.
- Update every player’s client to the same release before switching the live server.
- Keep the previous server folder until the new release has been tested through a normal restart and a player connection.
Never overwrite a working world before making a restorable backup. Modpack updates can alter configuration formats, world-generation behavior, or required dependencies even when the Minecraft version remains 1.20.1.
Security, backups, and administration
A modpack server should be operated like any other internet-facing service. Give the server its own operating-system account where practical, keep the host system updated, restrict administrative access, and avoid running unknown scripts from an unverified archive. Use a whitelist or equivalent access control if the server is private, and grant operator privileges only to people who need them.
Keep at least one backup outside the live server directory. A useful rotation includes a recent copy for accidental damage and an older copy for recovering from a corrupted or unwanted update. Periodically restore a backup to a separate folder; a backup that has never been tested is only an assumption.
What is confirmed and what still needs verification
| Item | Current position |
|---|---|
| Minecraft version | 1.20.1 |
| Mod loader | Fabric |
| Server download | Separate server-pack download in CurseForge’s Minecraft 1.20 Server Packs area |
| Latest version seen in a snapshot | 5.1.2; verify the live file list because dates and files can change |
| Earlier versions seen | 4.5.2 and 4.3.9 |
| Small-group RAM guidance | Approximately 8–12 GB, based on host guidance |
| Exact Fabric-loader version | Not stated in the available listing; verify before installation |
| Exact Java version | Not stated in the available listing; verify before installation |
| Official creator | Not verified; uploader credits differ between files |
| Modrinth availability | No listing was confirmed |
Bottom line for beginners
For the least technical route, choose a host whose panel explicitly lists the current Fabri’s Frontiers CurseForge server pack, provides at least 8 GB of RAM, and permits the file and backup controls you need. For complete control, self-host the dedicated server pack: match Minecraft 1.20.1, install the loader and Java versions named by the current pack instructions, copy the archive contents into a clean server folder, restart, and read the logs before anyone joins. The single most common avoidable mistake is using the client download on the server or mixing pack releases between the server and players.
