The Eufy Security NVR System E50 is a wired, four-camera PoE kit built around a dedicated recorder—not the separate solar-powered SoloCam E50. It is designed for continuous local recording, with a preinstalled 2TB hard drive, remotely accessible feeds and alerts, and cameras that can pan and track subjects. That makes it worth considering if you are building a system from scratch; the cabling and an unresolved-at-review-time RTSP question matter if you need easier installation or third-party NVR support.
Which Eufy E50 does this review cover?
The Eufy Security NVR System E50 is a bundle of a network video recorder (NVR), four wired E50 Power over Ethernet (PoE) cameras, a preinstalled hard drive, and installation accessories, according to Eufy’s product page and Harish Jonnalagadda’s September 30, 2026, hands-on review for Android Central. PoE carries power and data over the camera cable, so the cameras do not need routine battery charging, but installation requires running cables.

This is not the separate Eufy SoloCam E50, a solar camera with different recording and storage options. The similarly named products are easy to confuse; the dedicated NVR and four PoE cameras identify the system discussed here. Eufy’s SoloCam listing describes that other product family.

What does the E50 system include and record?
Dedicated recorder and local footage
Eufy lists a preinstalled 2TB hard drive and says the NVR can be expanded to 16TB. The system is intended to record continuously to local storage; Jonnalagadda reported 24/7 recording and access to local footage during his review. These are product specifications and one reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee of retention time: how much footage the drive holds depends on camera settings and recording conditions.

Eufy markets the NVR as a no-fee system, and local recording means the described core recording setup does not depend on a cloud-storage subscription. Confirm current plan terms and product details with Eufy before buying, since offerings can change.
Two lenses, one camera
Jonnalagadda describes each camera as combining a 2K fixed lens with a 180-degree field of view and a 4K movable lens that rotates 360 degrees, has a stated 65-foot range, and offers 5x zoom. Eufy’s product page also describes 2K fixed and 4K PTZ lenses, but lists the fixed lens’s field of view as 115 degrees. Because the sources disagree on that specification, treat the field-of-view figure as unconfirmed and check the current listing for the exact version you are considering.

How do tracking, alerts, and AI features work?
Jonnalagadda reports that OmniTrack followed detected subjects and that motion alerts arrived promptly during his use. He also describes multi-camera viewing, cross-camera tracking, familiar-face setup, and exclusion zones. Those are review observations and feature descriptions, not a promise that tracking or alerts will behave identically in every home; camera placement, lighting, network conditions, and settings can affect results.

That is the manufacturer’s claim. A separate Eufy support article about older eufyCam and HomeBase products does not establish the E50 NVR’s specific security architecture, so it should not be taken as confirmation of E50 encryption or access-control details.

What did the hands-on review find?
In his September 30, 2026 review, Jonnalagadda says the cameras covered his home’s exterior, delivered clear footage, and provided remote access to feeds and alerts. He valued the moving lens for tracking, and framed the NVR kit as an all-in-one option for buyers starting from scratch. These are his reported experiences rather than controlled comparisons or a guarantee for every property.
His conclusion was: “On the whole, it’s a good choice if you need an all-in-one security camera system to cover your home and yard.” Read the full Android Central E50 review for his detailed account.

What should you check before choosing it?
Installation and camera placement
PoE removes the need to charge each camera, but the trade-off is routing cables from the recorder or network setup to camera locations. Plan the cable paths and mounting positions before purchase. Jonnalagadda notes that Wi-Fi cameras can be added indoors with Eufy’s separately sold Wi-Fi Module; that is an optional expansion, not part of the four-camera PoE bundle.
Third-party NVR and RTSP compatibility
At the time of Jonnalagadda’s review, the cameras did not integrate with RTSP, a protocol commonly used to connect cameras to third-party recording and viewing software. He reported that Eufy told him RTSP support was expected in a coming update, but the sources available here do not verify that it has shipped. If your setup depends on an open protocol or another NVR, verify current firmware and compatibility with Eufy before buying rather than assuming the update is available.

Match recording and storage to your needs
- Choose a dedicated NVR approach if you want a recorder and local continuous recording in one system and accept the installation work involved in wired cameras.
- Check the storage capacity you need against Eufy’s stated 2TB included drive and up-to-16TB expansion. The actual recording history depends on settings and usage.
- Check interoperability first if another recorder or software platform must access the cameras; the review’s RTSP limitation is the central compatibility question.
At review publication, Jonnalagadda reported a $1,199 list price and an $839 promotional price tied to a code. Those are historical, time-limited figures from September 2026, not current pricing; check Eufy’s current product listing for availability and price.
