Capsules: the key buying constraint
The Piccolo is a closed system for practical purposes. Espressotoria says only genuine Espressotoria System capsules work in it and warns that other capsules may damage the machine. Where to find capsules
The manufacturer names Woolworths, Coles and independent Australian supermarkets as retailers. In New Zealand, it names Countdown and Foodstuffs. These are stated sales channels, not a guarantee that a particular shop has stock; check locally before buying the machine. Espressotoria FAQ

What is known about performance and reliability
CHOICE lists the model and says it has testing, but the expert rating and detailed results for taste, ease of use, milk frothing, temperature consistency and heat-up were member-only on the publicly visible page reviewed. Cleaning, price and availability
