If your Epson projector flickers, first check whether it happens only while a video source is connected. Epson’s CO-W01 guide recommends trying a compatible replacement cable for signal-dependent flicker, testing High Light Output if the projector is set to Low (Eco), and then considering a cable-disconnected reset. These steps are specific to that guide; check your exact model’s manual for matching settings and reset instructions.
Start by checking when the flicker happens
Notice whether the image flickers only while a video source is connected, or whether it also happens when the projector is receiving no signal. This helps distinguish a possible signal-path issue from a symptom that needs other checks.

If flicker occurs only with a video source
Inspect the cable connections and try a compatible replacement video cable. Confirm that its connectors fit both the projector and source, and that it meets the signal requirements of your setup. Epson’s CO-W01 guide recommends replacing the cable for flicker limited to an input video signal; it does not establish one cable type as suitable for every Epson projector.

A replacement cable is not a useful first fix if the symptom persists with no input. Continue with the light-output check, if your model offers the cited setting, and look for status-indicator warnings.

Test Light Output if your model has Low (Eco) mode
For the CO-W01, Epson recommends changing Light Output from Low (Eco) to High and projecting an image for about two hours to see whether flicker continues. This is a test described in that model’s guide, not a setting or procedure confirmed for every Epson projector. Check your manual for the setting name and available modes.
Check your projector’s status indicators
Compare any illuminated or flashing indicator with the status table for your exact model. Epson’s indicator guidance assigns different meanings to different colors and patterns; possible issues include lamp or lamp-cover problems, overheating, fan or sensor faults, and internal errors.

- Follow the model guide’s specific maintenance instructions when it identifies a lamp or air-filter issue. A replacement lamp or filter is relevant only when the model’s documentation points to it.
- If Epson instructs you to unplug the projector or contact support, follow that direction rather than repeatedly power-cycling the unit.

Reset only after following the model’s instructions
For the CO-W01, Epson’s documented sequence is to disconnect all cables between the projector and video devices, confirm that no signal is being input, and enable Reset All Config from the Reset menu. A reset can change settings, so consult your exact model’s guide for the menu path and effects before proceeding.

Epson also provides an online version of the flickering-image troubleshooting steps. Do not assume the CO-W01 menu labels or reset behavior apply to a different model.
If flicker appears with noise or static
If flicker is accompanied by image noise or static, the CO-W01 guide also recommends checking cable connections, avoiding extension cables, and choosing a source resolution and refresh rate compatible with the projector. Treat these as related signal checks, not universal fixes for flickering.

When to seek Epson support
Use the exact model’s indicator table and troubleshooting guide to decide what to do next. Persistent flicker after the documented checks, or an indicator pattern that the guide associates with a fan, sensor, overheating, or internal fault, may require Epson support or service. Do not open the projector or buy a generic lamp or filter unless the model’s instructions identify that part as relevant.
