Epic Seven does not have one universally useful hero ranking: a tier list is guidance for a particular activity, shaped by what that activity rewards and by the list publisher’s assumptions. A hero’s placement for story content may not predict its value in a Hunt, Abyss, Arena, or real-time PvP match.
Why PvE and PvP rankings differ
Different activities ask heroes to do different jobs. Pocket Gamer describes story PvE as emphasizing clear speed and survival, while Arena PvP can reward control and debuffs. Those are useful examples, not fixed rules for every stage, matchup, or team: the best fit depends on the specific task and how a hero works with the rest of the lineup. A tier list therefore evaluates heroes against a purpose, rather than measuring a universal amount of strength. A ranking is most useful when its activity matches yours.
“PvE” and “PvP” each contain different activities
Broad mode labels can hide important distinctions. A tier-list hub may separate story, Hunt, and Abyss rankings under PvE, and Arena, RTA, and The Call of Chaos under PvP. PvP modes also have different rules, so a ranking for one is not automatically a reliable guide to another. Before using any placement, identify the exact activity it addresses. A general “PvE tier” or “PvP tier” without that context may conceal the difference that matters most to your decision.
How to compare conflicting rankings
Two lists can disagree without either offering a universal verdict. Check what each one is trying to rank and how its author arrived at the placement. For example, Epic7DB describes its rankings as reflecting top-ranked player opinions and the publisher’s experience. That is an editorial method, not an official game-wide rating or evidence of Smilegate endorsement. Its page is titled Our Official Epic Seven Tier Lists for PvP and PvE (2026); “official” is the publisher’s wording for its own lists.

- Team role: Consider what job the hero is expected to perform alongside your other heroes, rather than reading the tier in isolation.
- Gear and team assumptions: Check whether the publisher states assumptions about equipment or team composition. The cited lists do not establish a shared set of assumptions.
- Publisher and method: Find out whether a ranking reflects player opinions, author experience, or another stated approach. There is no single scoring system established across the publishers cited here.
- Update date: Treat a ranking as a snapshot. The Epic Seven Wiki hub was updated on 2026-09-01 and notes that placements can shift after balance changes; check the page’s current date and context when you consult it.
How to use a tier list for your account
- Name the goal: Decide which specific stage, Hunt, Abyss floor, Arena matchup, RTA format, or other activity you want to tackle.
- Find a matching list: Prefer a ranking for that activity over a broad PvE or PvP ordering.
- Read the explanation: Look for the role, team context, equipment assumptions, methodology, and update date behind a placement.
- Shortlist, then assess: Use the tier as a way to identify candidates, not as a promise that a hero will perform the same for every account or team.
Is there one tier list for every mode?
No single ordering can answer every mode-specific question well. A list can offer a broad overview, but for a build or team decision, use a ranking and explanation that match the activity you actually play. Community discussions include questions such as whether there is a list for every character; those examples show the kind of question players ask, not how common it is.
