The recommended tier keeps the same operating system, DirectX version and storage requirement but raises the target to an Intel i7-class CPU, 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1660-class GPU. These are specification thresholds, not a guaranteed frame rate. Steam lists October 29, 2026 as the planned release date, so confirm that the listing has changed from “not yet available” before trying to install.

Steam lists Epic Seven as a free-to-play role-playing game from Smilegate. The store page gives October 29, 2026 as the planned release date. At the time represented by the current listing, the game was not yet available to download, so the date should be treated as a plan rather than proof that the Steam build is live. Availability can change before that date; check the live store page when you are ready to install.

A Steam account is not the only account involved. The listing says a third-party STOVE account is required and that Steam account linking is supported. Linking can connect the two services, but it does not remove the STOVE account requirement. Steam also identifies the anti-cheat component as the kernel-level system UNCHEATER. That disclosure matters if your organization or security policy restricts kernel-level software: review those policies before installation.

Steam’s requirement panel and Smilegate STOVE’s official PC Client Installation guide show the same tiers. “Or higher” applies to the processor and graphics entries as written by the listing; the table preserves the publisher’s wording.

The minimum column is the publisher’s stated floor for a supported configuration. It does not promise a particular resolution, frame rate or degree of smoothness on every PC that clears the list. The recommended column is Smilegate’s general target for a smoother experience, not a laboratory benchmark or a guarantee under every workload.
How to compare your PC with the table
1. Confirm the Windows edition and architecture
Open Settings → System → About and check both the Windows version and “System type.” The requirement calls for 64-bit Windows 10 or higher, so a 32-bit installation does not match the published minimum even if the other components are fast enough. If Windows is managed by work or school policy, confirm that you can install a game client and its anti-cheat component before troubleshooting hardware.
2. Identify the processor
In Settings → System → About, read the processor name. You can also open Task Manager → Performance → CPU for the model currently detected by Windows. Compare the model to the table’s Intel i5 or Intel i7 tier rather than judging only by clock speed. The listing does not define an exact generation, core count or equivalent AMD model, so do not treat an unofficial “equivalent” chart as an official guarantee.
3. Check installed memory
Task Manager’s Performance → Memory panel shows the installed RAM. Use the total installed figure, not the amount currently free. A machine with the minimum amount may have less headroom when a browser, recording software or an emulator is open; the recommended amount gives more room for those background tasks, but it still does not establish a frame-rate target.

4. Check the active graphics adapter
Open Task Manager → Performance → GPU or run dxdiag and inspect the Display tab. Laptops can expose both integrated and discrete adapters, so verify which one a game would use. The published comparison is GTX 1060 at minimum and GTX 1660 at recommended, each followed by “or higher.” The official material does not define an equivalent Radeon or integrated-graphics tier; if your adapter is outside the named GTX families, the table alone cannot certify it.
5. Verify DirectX support
Press Windows key + R, enter dxdiag, and read the DirectX version on the System tab. The requirement is DirectX 11. A newer installed DirectX runtime generally includes support for older APIs, but the game still needs a working graphics driver and a compatible adapter; the number shown by the diagnostic tool is not a substitute for checking the GPU model.
6. Measure free space on the intended drive
In File Explorer → This PC, check the drive where the client will be installed. The listing specifies 10 GB available. Leave additional working room rather than filling the drive to its limit, especially if Windows updates, shader caches or other games use the same volume. The requirement states capacity, not whether a particular drive type improves performance.

What minimum and recommended actually tell you
Meeting the minimum
Matching every minimum row means your configuration reaches the published baseline. It does not establish how the game will behave at a chosen resolution, whether frame pacing will be consistent, or how much performance will remain while other applications run. Treat a borderline match as a compatibility check, not as a promise of a specific visual preset.

Meeting the recommended tier
The recommended tier adds memory and moves up the processor and graphics classes while leaving the operating-system, DirectX and storage entries unchanged. Smilegate describes this tier as intended to provide a smooth experience, but its guide expressly qualifies performance by internet connection, operating-system condition and computer maintenance. A recommended-spec PC can therefore still experience problems caused by software, drivers, heat, background load or network conditions.
When your hardware is between the tiers
The table does not provide an intermediate profile. If one component falls below minimum, the published information cannot predict whether the client will start or how it will perform. If all components meet minimum but one does not reach recommended, you satisfy the stated baseline while lacking the publisher’s complete smooth-play target. Avoid converting that gap into an automatic upgrade requirement; first test the actual client when it is available.
Installing through the official STOVE client
Smilegate’s PC guide describes installation through the STOVE PC Client. The Steam listing’s account language should be read alongside those instructions, not as a replacement for them.

- Open the client and sign in or create the required STOVE account.
- Choose Install Game in the client.
- Accept the end-user license agreement when prompted.
- Complete the installation, then launch Epic Seven from the client.
If you begin from Steam, follow the account-linking prompts shown by the live release. Keep the STOVE credentials available because Steam linking is described as supported, while a STOVE account remains required. Do not assume that installing a Steam shortcut bypasses the client or its account check.

Performance settings: what is officially documented
The official Steam listing and STOVE guide reviewed for this guide do not enumerate in-game graphics controls. They do not publish resolution choices, quality presets, a frame-rate cap, benchmark results or tested hardware examples. Consequently, there is no official setting combination that can be presented as “the best” for low-end, mid-range or high-end PCs.
“Recommended Specifications: A setup that ensures a smooth gaming experience, but performance may vary depending on internet connection, OS, or computer maintenance status.” — Smilegate STOVE, PC Client Installation guide.
This is the only specific performance qualification in the official material. It means that hardware alone is not the complete explanation for a player’s experience.

The following is general PC troubleshooting guidance, not a Smilegate-published preset:
- Start with the client’s default options if it presents a graphics menu. Change one option at a time so you can identify which change affects responsiveness or image quality.
- If the client offers a resolution or frame-rate control, use the display’s native resolution first and lower it only when performance is inadequate. Record the original value so you can restore it.
- Close unnecessary browsers, overlays, recording tools and launchers while diagnosing stutter. Re-test with the same scene or activity after each change.
- Install current graphics drivers from your GPU manufacturer and restart Windows before deciding that the hardware fails the requirement. Driver behavior is not covered by the Steam specification table, so this is troubleshooting rather than a guarantee.
- Check temperatures, power mode and whether a laptop is running on battery. Throttling or an integrated adapter selected by Windows can make a compliant machine behave below expectations.
Because no official benchmarks exist in the cited material, avoid quoting a predicted FPS number or claiming that a particular preset is validated for a named GPU.
Troubleshooting by symptom
The game will not install
- Recheck the planned release date and the live Steam availability status; a pre-release listing cannot be installed before release.
- Confirm that the destination drive has at least the listed free capacity and that your Windows account can write to it.
- Make sure the STOVE PC Client is installed, the EULA has been accepted and the required STOVE account is available.
The client starts but performance is poor
- Compare every row of your system with the minimum table, including 64-bit Windows, DirectX support and the active GPU.
- Reduce background load and check whether Windows selected an integrated adapter on a laptop.
- Look for any graphics controls the released client actually exposes. Since the official pages do not document those controls, describe the exact option and value when reporting a problem rather than assuming a universal preset.
- Check operating-system maintenance, driver state, heat and network quality. Smilegate specifically warns that all of these categories can affect the experience, directly or through the guide’s references to internet connection, OS and computer maintenance.
Steam or account linking fails
Verify that the STOVE account requirement has been satisfied independently of Steam. Sign out and back in to the correct account, then follow the linking flow shown by the current client. Do not create multiple links blindly; account ownership and recovery questions are service-specific and are not defined by the hardware requirements.
Security software blocks launch
Steam identifies UNCHEATER as kernel-level anti-cheat. If security software or an organization’s policy blocks it, consult the current publisher support instructions rather than disabling protections indiscriminately. A hardware upgrade will not resolve a policy or driver conflict.

Use the requirements as a screening tool, not a shopping list. If your PC is below a listed minimum, the official sources do not establish which single upgrade would make it compliant. If it meets minimum, wait for the released client and observe its actual behavior before spending money. If it reaches the recommended tier, you have matched Smilegate’s stated smooth-play target, subject to the guide’s caveat about connection, operating-system condition and maintenance.
The documentation does not identify a required peripheral, repair part or other physical accessory. A keyboard, mouse, controller or monitor may be a personal preference, but none is listed as necessary for installation or support. Likewise, the published 10 GB figure is a storage requirement, not evidence that a particular SSD or hard-drive model is required.
