Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo keep Windows 11’s Mouse indicator on screen until you dismiss it, open Settings > Accessibility > Mouse pointer and touch > Mouse indicator, then turn on Keep indicator visible until dismissed. The regular Mouse indicator setting must also be on. The option is reported for Windows 11 Experimental 26H2 Insider builds; its availability in general-release Windows 11 is not established.
What the setting changes
Mouse indicator is a built-in Windows accessibility feature that helps draw attention to the pointer. With Keep indicator visible until dismissed enabled, its locator effect stays visible rather than appearing only briefly. No separate mouse or accessory is required.

The Windows 11 Forum tutorial describes Win + Ctrl + Shift + M as the shortcut for persistent mode. It says you can dismiss the indicator by pressing that shortcut again, pressing Esc, or clicking or tapping. While persistent mode is active, pressing Ctrl alone no longer activates the indicator, according to the tutorial. See the Windows 11 Forum tutorial.

Turn the option on or off in Settings
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Select Accessibility, then Mouse pointer and touch.
- Expand Mouse indicator.
- Make sure Mouse indicator is on.
- Turn Keep indicator visible until dismissed on to enable persistent mode, or off to disable it.
If the keep-visible option is absent, check your Windows build and Insider channel before troubleshooting the Settings path. The feature is version-sensitive and is not confirmed for every Windows 11 installation.

Check build availability before troubleshooting
A Windows 11 Forum tutorial last edited September 25, 2026 reports that the hidden option appeared starting with Windows 11 build 26340.9233 (Experimental 26H2 for Insiders). It says build 26340.9502 (Experimental 26H2 for Insiders) added a choice between single- and double-Ctrl activation methods.
Microsoft’s September 8, 2026 Windows Insider Blog announcement listed Experimental build 26340.9354. Microsoft Learn’s release notes identify that as an Experimental preview, but the reviewed notes do not mention this Mouse indicator option. Those Microsoft sources establish the preview context, not that the feature has reached general release. Do not assume the setting is present on every Windows 11 PC.

Registry alternative: use caution
The cited third-party tutorial lists a FindMyMousePersistent DWORD under HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelCursors with these values:
| DWORD value | Meaning stated by the tutorial |
|---|---|
1 |
Persistent mode on; single-Ctrl activation |
5 |
Persistent mode on; double-Ctrl activation |
0 |
Persistent mode off; single-Ctrl activation (identified as the default) |
4 |
Persistent mode off; double-Ctrl activation |
These values are reported by the third-party tutorial and are not independently confirmed in Microsoft documentation. The tutorial says to sign out and back in or restart after applying a registry file. Its discussion also notes a copy-and-paste error in explanatory text while saying the registry file had the corrected value. Prefer the Settings controls when available; if you choose to edit the registry, verify the value and key carefully before merging anything.

Third-party instructions also describe using ViVeTool to enable hidden feature flags. That is an experimental workaround, not a normal Settings step, and the Microsoft sources cited above do not confirm that it applies across builds. If the option is missing, checking your build and channel is the safer first step.
