Email can keep viewers informed between broadcasts, but it works only when people choose to join and your messages match what you promised. Build a voluntary list around a clear subscriber benefit, set a realistic cadence, send relevant updates, and make unsubscribing easy. It supports a community relationship; it does not replace your stream or guarantee reach, sponsorships, or revenue.
What an email list can do for a streamer
A newsletter gives willing viewers a way to hear about upcoming streams, recaps, community news, or other updates outside a live platform. Treat it as an additional communication channel, not a replacement for streaming or a guaranteed way to grow an audience or earn money. No universal open rate, conversion rate, revenue lift, or ideal sending schedule is established here.

Start with a promise you can keep. Examples include a weekly schedule and recap, occasional game or category updates, behind-the-scenes notes, community highlights, or infrequent announcements. These are possible editorial formats, not proven performance formulas. Choose something narrow enough to deliver consistently.
How to invite viewers without abusing their trust
- Choose a voluntary signup location. Put a form on your creator website or in a channel panel, for example. Make joining a deliberate choice rather than assuming that a viewer wants email because they watched, followed, subscribed on-platform, entered chat, or contacted you one to one.
- Explain the offer before the form is submitted. Say what messages contain and how often subscribers are likely to receive them. Avoid promises you cannot reliably keep.
- Confirm and record consent. Use a signup flow that supports the confirmation practices appropriate to your audience and service. Google’s subscription guidance calls for confirming the address after website or app signup (double consent). Google subscription guidelines
- Keep the list separate from platform activity. Do not scrape viewer profiles, harvest contact details, or treat chat participation as newsletter permission.
Twitch’s Terms of Service prohibit spam and unsolicited promotions to Twitch users, harvesting email addresses or other contact details from Twitch, and collecting personal information without consent. That is a boundary on how you acquire and use contact information; it is not a blanket ban on an off-platform newsletter people chose to receive.

What to put in a streamer newsletter
Make each message recognizable and useful to the people who signed up. A simple starter issue might contain the next stream dates, a short highlight or recap, one community update, and a single destination link. That is a practical format, not a claim that it will produce a particular result.
- Use a sender name subscribers will recognize.
- Write a subject line that accurately describes the message; do not disguise promotions or imply urgency that is not real.
- Lead with the content you promised, then make any call to action clear.
- Stay within the cadence stated on the signup form. If your schedule changes, tell subscribers rather than silently escalating message frequency.
- Keep marketing messages distinct from transactional messages such as receipts.
Google recommends clear opt-in, relevant content, accurate sender and subject details, and a reasonable, expected frequency in its bulk email best practices. The guidance does not establish one best newsletter schedule for every streamer.

Authenticate the sending domain
Use a domain you control and follow the email service’s DNS setup instructions. Google says all senders to Gmail need SPF or DKIM. Senders delivering 5,000 or more messages per day to Gmail accounts need SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and one-click unsubscribe for marketing and subscribed messages, under Google’s current sender guidelines. These are Gmail-specific requirements, not a universal legal checklist; check the current guidance before launch.

Mailchimp separately advises authenticating the sending domain and configuring DMARC, and notes that use of a free consumer From address can prompt account-review concerns in its system. This is Mailchimp-specific advice, not a guarantee of inbox placement across providers. See its account-suspension guidance.

Honor unsubscribe requests
Google’s subscription-message guidance calls for one-click unsubscribe and processing requests within 48 hours. Choose a service and configuration that can provide a working opt-out and honor it promptly. Do not make subscribers hunt for a way to leave.
Measure whether the newsletter still fits
Review signups, clicks, replies, unsubscribes, and spam complaints over time. Use those signals to decide whether the offer and cadence still suit your audience. Do not treat open rates as a reliable measure without accounting for privacy-related measurement limits; no benchmark rate is established here. Avoid drawing firm conclusions from a single send or a small number of responses.

Choose an email service by the job it needs to do
No provider is established here as the best choice for streamers. Compare current services against the needs of your list and workflow rather than choosing on a broad recommendation:
| What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Signup and confirmation flow | It should support the consent practices appropriate for your audience and make the offer clear before signup. |
| Unsubscribe handling | Marketing messages need a functional opt-out process that can honor requests promptly. |
| Domain-authentication guidance | Check how the service helps configure SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for your sending setup. |
| Forms and workflow | Consider whether forms can be embedded on your site and whether the service fits how you prepare and send updates. |
| Cost, data, reporting, and privacy | Verify current prices for your subscriber count and sending volume, as well as data export, reporting, and privacy controls, directly with each provider. |
Mailchimp is one example of an email marketing service, but the available evidence does not establish it as the best platform for streamers or establish its current affiliate program.

Sponsorships and legal boundaries
An email list is not proof that you will secure sponsorships. Twitch says eligible streamers can use Creator Profile audience and demographic data to support brand connections; Partners and Affiliates automatically have profile access, according to its Creator Profile guide. This is an adjacent sponsorship tool, not evidence that a newsletter itself produces brand deals.
If you promote branded content on Twitch, use Twitch’s branded-content disclosure tool and verify that the product or service is permitted. Twitch’s branded-content guidelines say creators and brands remain responsible for applicable laws and regulations. Check the current policy for a campaign.
Email laws vary with the sender’s location, subscriber location, and message type. Gmail’s product requirements are not a substitute for checking the legal rules that apply to your audience and business.
