Elecom’s DST-L080BPBK is an 8-in-1 USB-C docking station with four programmable keys and a large dial on its top surface. Elecom’s free Mouse Assistant application lets you assign those controls to functions such as microphone mute, camera on/off, volume, shortcuts and saved text. Underneath the controls, it is a conventional dock with USB data ports, HDMI, SD and microSD readers, wired LAN, a headset jack and a USB-C power input. As of Elecom’s product page checked on 8 October 2026, it is listed for sale in Japan. TechSpot reported on 8 October 2026 that no international availability had been announced.
What the dial and four keys do
The controls sit on top of the unit, so you can reach them without moving your hand to a keyboard or mouse. Elecom’s 7 October 2026 launch announcement describes this as the main purpose of the design. The company’s own examples of assignable functions are:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Muting and unmuting the microphone during calls
- Turning the camera on or off
- Adjusting system volume with the dial
- Launching shortcuts or inserting saved text
Elecom recommends the dock for business use, video editing and pen-display work. Those are the company’s own suggested use cases. No independent hands-on test or long-term user report of the dial and keys had been published as of this writing, so how smoothly the dial behaves in daily use is not yet established.
How the controls are configured
Assignments are made in Elecom Mouse Assistant, which Elecom describes as free. The official materials do not document the step-by-step menus or which applications the software supports, so check the app’s current screens after installing it, and confirm that your operating system is on Elecom’s list before you buy (see the compatibility section below).

Ports and what each one connects to
Elecom publishes the following port set and specifications for the dock:
| Feature | Published specification | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| USB-C data port | One port, USB 5 Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 1) | Data only; it does not output video. The 5 Gbps figure is a theoretical interface rate, not a measured transfer speed. |
| USB-A data ports | Two ports, USB 5 Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 1) | Suitable for keyboards, drives or other peripherals; real throughput depends on the host and the attached device. |
| HDMI | Up to 3840 × 2160 at 60 Hz | 4K at 60 Hz requires the conditions listed in the display section. |
| Card readers | SD and microSD | Read-only use is not stated; check your workflow if you expect to write large files quickly. |
| Wired LAN | 1000BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 10BASE-T | Gigabit wired networking is supported at the port’s rated speed; Elecom does not publish measured throughput. |
| Headset jack | 3.5 mm, four-pole | Combined microphone and headphone connection. |
| Power input | USB-C PD, 100 W maximum input | Charges the host laptop; see the charging section. |
| Cable and size | About 0.3 m cable; about 74 × 87 × 59 mm; about 250 g; black | Compact enough for a desk, but the short cable constrains where you can place it. |
The dock is listed with a one-year warranty on Elecom’s product page.
Charging a laptop through the dock
The dock accepts up to 100 W through its power input and uses 10 W itself, so up to 90 W can pass to the host. Elecom states that reaching that 90 W ceiling requires a 100 W AC charger. The charger is not included.

To use the charging function, check that:
- Your laptop supports USB-C Power Delivery charging.
- You are using a 100 W AC charger if you want the maximum output Elecom specifies.
- The laptop connects directly to the dock, not through another hub or expansion board.
A lower-wattage charger will still work with the dock in principle, but Elecom’s published maximum of 90 W applies only with the 100 W charger. Lower-wattage output is not characterised in the official materials.
HDMI and 4K at 60 Hz
Elecom rates the HDMI port at up to 3840 × 2160 at 60 Hz. That capability depends on both sides of the connection:
- The host computer’s USB-C port must support DisplayPort Alternate Mode.
- The input signal must support DisplayPort 1.4, as Elecom specifies.
If either condition is missing, expect a lower resolution or refresh rate rather than a successful 4K60 output. Because the second USB-C port carries data only, it cannot be used as a video output.

Plug the dock straight into a compatible computer USB-C port. Connecting it through another USB hub or expansion board is not supported.
- No pre-boot operation. The dock does not work before the operating system starts, or in BIOS or system setup screens.
- Host-dependent features. Some functions may vary with the host’s USB-C specification.
- MAC address changer. Elecom’s MAC address changing tool is Windows-only.

TechSpot reported on 8 October 2026 that the dock would go on sale in Japan that month. It noted that no international availability had been announced. The official product page supports a Japanese listing; it does not claim an international launch. We found no confirmed Amazon listing or marketplace availability outside Japan, so do not assume the dock can be bought from a non-Japanese store.
How it compares with other control products
TechSpot names the Logitech MX Creative Console, the Elgato Stream Deck and TourBox as adjacent control products. These are dedicated controllers rather than docking stations, so they are not direct equivalents. If you are weighing them against this dock, compare the controls and the docking features separately: the number and type of programmable inputs, the port set and display support, charging capacity, operating system support, desk footprint and regional availability.
Who should consider it
The dock makes the most sense if you want a conventional USB-C dock with a physical control surface for calls, camera, volume or shortcuts, and you can meet its conditions: a compatible Windows 10/11 or macOS Tahoe 26 machine, a direct USB-C connection, a 100 W charger if you want full charging output, and a DisplayPort Alternate Mode host for 4K at 60 Hz. If your laptop lacks USB-C Power Delivery or DisplayPort Alternate Mode, or you need Linux or pre-boot support, this is not the right product.
Until independent testing is published, judge the dial’s ergonomics and the configuration software by trying them in a store if possible, or by reading reviews once they appear.
