Its planned scope also includes floating-island exploration, creature breeding, dragon raising and kingdom management. As of October 3, 2026, Steam lists the game as unavailable with a release date to be announced; the studio is aiming for closed access for selected backers in 2027, not announcing a public launch date.
What is Eldrem: Kingdoms?
Eldrem: Kingdoms is an action-adventure RPG and creature collector from Eldrem Studios. The game is listed on Steam in the Action, Adventure, Indie and RPG categories. Its defining announced feature is that creatures do more than fight alongside the player: the currently summoned creature grants the player character abilities and powers.

The project is still in development. Steam says its pre-alpha stage is nearing completion and describes core systems such as taming, combat and summoning as being completed. The store page also says elemental combat and borrowing creature spells are in late implementation. Those are developer status descriptions, not an independent assessment of a playable build.
How does combat and creature collection work?
Creatures change the player’s abilities
According to the Steam description, each species has its own spell set, and the player’s spells come from the creature currently summoned. Its examples include summoning an Ice Ursaleo for an ice shield and using a dragon to fly. The campaign description says creatures can also provide passive powers, and that players can bring up to four creatures on an adventure. These details describe the intended design.

That setup makes roster choice part of the character’s combat build: switching a creature is meant to change what the player can do, rather than simply replacing one independent party fighter with another. The campaign presents different elements, strengths and combat roles as reasons to assemble a varied roster.
Combat and creature progression are connected loops
In an October 2, 2026 CGMagazine interview, game designer Dragos Inoan described fighting to level up and reach more dangerous areas, alongside hunting, taming, training, fighting and breeding creatures. He said players could favor close melee combat or a more ranged approach that relies on creatures and spells. Inoan suggested melee might produce quicker progress; that is a description of the design, not verified balance data.

The campaign’s broader pitch adds exploration of the Crystal Sky Islands, weakening creatures before attempting to tame them, and raising dragons. It also outlines kingdom systems: collecting resources, building production structures, recruiting and training armies, defending territory and attacking rival lands. Steam separately describes defending a town from attackers. These are announced systems, and the available sources do not establish that all are implemented in the current pre-alpha-stage build.
When is Eldrem: Kingdoms coming out?
Steam lists the release date as “To be announced” and says the game is not yet available. The studio FAQ says it aims to offer closed access to selected backers in 2027, followed by public Early Access as development progresses. In the October 2, 2026 interview, Inoan described Early Access as still some way off. The 2027 access target is a plan, not a confirmed general release date.

What platforms are planned?
The studio says its primary focus is the PC version. Eldrem has listings on Steam and the Epic Games Store, but those listings do not mean the game has launched or that a release date is set. Mobile and console versions are described by the studio as possible expansions after the PC version is established, not confirmed launch platforms.
Will Eldrem have online multiplayer?
The studio FAQ says the launch focus is single-player. It lists PvP arenas, co-op adventures and online guild activities as future plans, not launch features. The studio has not provided a confirmed timetable for those additions.

Inoan told CGMagazine that the team combines experience from both large game teams and smaller indie teams. He contrasted the specialization possible in large teams with the broader responsibilities and quicker changes of direction in a small team. As he put it, “A small team allows you to change directions quickly, adapt and implement test features that are impossible in corporate environments.”
Inoan named Eragon, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Elden Ring, World of Warcraft and Pokémon as inspirations, and said the team consulted historical European martial arts books for fighting styles and stances. He described founder John Ispas’s interest in Eragon as an early starting point, with technical artist George and creature concept artist Joshua helping the vision take shape.
Ispas said the Kickstarter campaign was intended to accelerate development of an early playable pre-alpha, including remaining development work and the servers and infrastructure needed for player access. He described the aim this way: “For us, Kickstarter is an opportunity to accelerate that progress and bring players into development earlier, so their hands-on feedback can help shape the game.” Inoan also characterized Early Access as a way for developers to get feedback and players to see a game’s progress directly.
How will Eldrem be sold, and is it an NFT game?
The studio FAQ describes Eldrem as a planned premium game. It says optional expansions or cosmetic items may follow launch, with the stated goal that purchases will not be required to enjoy full gameplay progression. The FAQ also says epic and legendary creatures should be obtainable through normal play; rarity is planned to affect cosmetics, attribute variation, ability pools and leveling time. These are the studio’s design claims, not independently tested systems.
The FAQ says an Eldrem account will be required to play, save progress and receive Kickstarter rewards. It says Steam or Epic login options may be offered later; matching email addresses would be needed to connect those accounts with pledge rewards. Account and login requirements may change before launch.
