For most sellers starting a store in 2026, Shopify and Wix are the most direct starting points, because both describe a documented path to supplier apps. WooCommerce suits sellers who want control over their store and accept running their own hosting. BigCommerce suits sellers who expect to need customized commerce features. The sources behind this guide do not support a verified ranking of 15 dropshipping platforms, so this is a shortlist of 12 candidates, each labeled with what is and is not established about its dropshipping fit.
Why this is a shortlist, not a ranked list of 15
The 12 candidates come from two comparisons. Shopify’s 2026 article on ecommerce website builders names ten platforms: Shopify, Shift4Shop, Squarespace, BigCommerce, Wix, Volusion, GoDaddy, Hostinger, WooCommerce, and Square Online (Shopify, “10 Best Ecommerce Website Builders for Your Online Store (2026)”). Ecommerce-Platforms.com, updated 2026-08-28, adds PrestaShop and Weebly (Ecommerce-Platforms.com, “Best Ecommerce Platform for Dropshipping in 2026”).

Being named in those lists does not make a platform a dropshipping tool. Ecwid and Webflow Ecommerce also came up in searches, but without a confirmed dropshipping workflow, so they are not included here. Shopify’s list is published by Shopify, so read its ordering as the vendor’s view.
A store builder and a supplier do different jobs
Before comparing platforms, separate the two functions a dropshipping store depends on:
#1 Best Overall
- The store builder hosts the storefront, handles the product pages, cart and checkout, and usually takes payments.
- The supplier or supplier app provides the product catalog, pricing, and fulfillment, meaning the order is shipped from the supplier’s stock.
These can be connected, but they are not interchangeable. A builder with a supplier app is still only as good as that app’s coverage of your suppliers, countries, and shipping methods. Check the supplier’s own integration list as well as the builder’s claims.
Free to build is not free to sell
Wix’s dropshipping page says you can design a store and add dropshipping products for free, but you need a paid Premium plan to accept payments (Wix, “Dropshipping Website Builder – Create a Dropship Website”). Many “free” builder offers work this way: setup costs nothing, but a store that takes orders does. Treat any free-setup claim as the cost of building, not operating.

The four platforms to compare first
Shopify
Shopify’s comparison describes integrated payments, an app ecosystem, Shop Pay checkout, point of sale, abandoned-cart recovery, analytics, and API access (Shopify’s ecommerce builder comparison). Supplier connections in Shopify come through apps from its app ecosystem, so you should verify each app’s listing, supported suppliers, and pricing separately from the plan. Shopify lists Starter and Basic as separate plans, so the right plan depends on which features you need rather than on one headline price.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWix
Wix describes a native dropshipping solution connected to Modalyst. It also names DSers for AliExpress products, Spocket, and Importify as other apps in its app market (Wix dropshipping page). This is Wix’s own product description, not an independent assessment, so confirm that each supplier and app you plan to use works in your country before committing.
Rank #3
WooCommerce
The Shopify comparison describes WooCommerce as free software with separate costs for hosting and plugins. It highlights WordPress integration, data ownership, and an extension ecosystem. The trade-off is that you assemble and maintain the stack yourself: WordPress, hosting, a payment plugin, and a supplier plugin. The sources do not quantify what that costs for a given store, and your total will depend on those choices.
BigCommerce
The same comparison presents BigCommerce as a customizable platform for larger businesses, with multiple payment providers and multilingual and multicurrency support. The sources cited here do not establish a dropshipping-specific supplier integration or a fee advantage for BigCommerce. Check its current documentation and plan terms for your region before assuming either.
Rank #4
Side-by-side view of the four
| Platform | Documented supplier connection | Hosting model | Taking payments | Choose it if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify | App ecosystem; supplier apps installed separately | Hosted | Integrated payments; transaction fees not stated in the cited comparison | You want a broad, all-in-one commerce toolkit |
| Wix | Native dropshipping workflow connected to Modalyst; DSers, Spocket, and Importify named as app market options (Wix’s own statement) | Hosted | Requires a paid Premium plan | You want an approachable builder with a documented supplier path |
| WooCommerce | Extension ecosystem; supplier plugins not named in the cited sources | Self-managed on WordPress, with separate hosting | Depends on the payment plugins you choose; not stated in the cited comparison | You want control and data ownership and accept maintenance |
| BigCommerce | Dropshipping support not stated in the cited comparison | Hosted | Multiple payment providers listed; fees not stated in the cited comparison | You expect to need customized commerce features |
Other candidates on the list
These platforms are listed as ecommerce builder options, but the cited sources do not establish a dropshipping use case for them. Do not treat them as dedicated dropshipping tools until you confirm supplier support directly with the platform.

What the cost comparison can and cannot tell you
This guide does not quote plan prices. Shopify’s comparison lists starting prices for the ten builders it covers, but those figures are source-reported and vary by region, billing period, and fees, so they cannot be compared as total cost. Build your own cost sheet with four lines: the plan required to take payments, any supplier app fees, payment processing fees, and hosting and plugins if you self-manage.

Checklist before you choose
- Confirm your supplier works with the platform in your country. Use the supplier’s integration list and the app’s listing, not only the builder’s marketing page.
- Identify the plan that lets you accept payments. On Wix, that is Premium. On Shopify, compare Starter and Basic for your region.
- Check that the payment providers you need are available in your country and currency.
- Total the recurring costs: plan, supplier app, transaction fees, and hosting or plugins for self-managed stacks.
- Confirm you can export products, orders, and customer data. With WooCommerce you control the data directly; with hosted builders, check the export options in each platform’s documentation.
- Place a small test order through your checkout before you spend on traffic, so you can see every charge the customer and you actually pay.
