This is a snapshot of vendor-published information reviewed on October 7, 2026. Dropbox prices below are US monthly figures; offerings and prices can vary by country and billing cadence. Tresorit’s captured personal-plan page listed features but did not expose numerical prices, so a price winner cannot be established from these figures. This comparison is based on published descriptions, not hands-on tests, speed benchmarks, or an independent cryptographic audit.

Which service is more private?
Tresorit: a published end-to-end, zero-knowledge design
Tresorit says its personal plans encrypt files and relevant metadata on the user’s device, and describes its design as end-to-end encrypted and zero-knowledge. Its security page also describes public-key cryptography and RSA-4096-based key sharing. The company’s own summary is: “Tresorit never has your keys, so only you – and the people you choose – can access them.” Treat that as Tresorit’s description of its system, not proof of an independent security assessment. Dropbox: check the specific plan’s E2EE availability
Dropbox’s plan table lists 256-bit AES and SSL/TLS encryption among core features, but marks end-to-end encryption for higher tiers rather than Basic or Plus in the displayed US table. That distinction matters: encryption in transit or at rest is not the same claim as end-to-end encryption. Do not assume every Dropbox plan provides E2EE; verify the current tier and its settings before storing files that require it. Dropbox plan page

How much storage do the plans provide?
The following are the capacities and prices shown on the vendors’ pages reviewed on October 7, 2026. Dropbox’s listed prices are US monthly amounts; team prices are per user. Tresorit’s captured page text did not show numerical prices.

These plans are not directly comparable by storage alone: Dropbox Standard and Advanced are team offerings with per-user pricing and starting team capacity, while the Tresorit figures above are personal plans. Compare the plans available in your country, on your chosen billing term, for the number of users and capacity you actually need.

Which service is better for sharing files?
Dropbox emphasizes low-friction sharing: its sharing page says a link can be sent to someone who does not have a Dropbox account. That can be useful when recipients should not have to sign up just to receive a file. Dropbox sharing

How should you compare file recovery?
The vendors describe different things on their plan pages. Dropbox lists recovery-history periods, while Tresorit lists how many file versions are retained. A longer period and a larger version count are not interchangeable measures, so neither set of figures alone establishes which service will recover a particular file more successfully.

- Check deleted-file recovery rules as well as prior-version restoration for the exact plan.
- Confirm any exclusions and operational details in current help documentation before relying on a service for a critical archive.
- Do not infer restore speed or success rates from the plan-page figures; those figures do not establish either.
Which devices and operating systems are supported?
Tresorit lists Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, and web access for its personal service. Dropbox’s plan page describes cross-device availability but does not provide a directly comparable operating-system matrix, so these sources do not establish that Dropbox supports fewer platforms. Check the current apps and system requirements for the devices you use. Tresorit personal plans Dropbox plan page
Which should you choose?
Choose Tresorit if privacy is the deciding factor
Tresorit is the clearer fit if your main requirement is a personal cloud service whose vendor-published model is end-to-end encrypted and zero-knowledge. It may suit confidential personal files or controlled external sharing. First confirm that the storage quota, maximum file size, device allowance, and encrypted-link limits on your chosen plan match your use.

Choose Dropbox if its workflow or plan fits better
Dropbox may be the better practical choice if its particular plan gives you the storage, sharing workflow, recovery-history period, or team features you need. Check that tier’s security feature list rather than assuming E2EE comes with every plan.
Make price the last comparison, not the first
Set your country, billing term, user count, storage requirement, and must-have features before comparing checkout prices. The Dropbox figures above are US monthly values, and the reviewed Tresorit page did not provide numerical prices; the available figures therefore do not establish a current price winner.
