After Title Update 3.2 rolled out on September 2, 2026, PS5 and Xbox Series X gained a Performance Mode tuned for a 60 FPS target, while PC still offers the most control over hardware and settings. The available evidence does not establish a universal performance winner or a complete current image-quality comparison, so the sensible choice depends on your existing system, not launch-era comparisons.
What changed with the 2026 update?
Dragon’s Dogma 2 launched in March 2024, and its early performance reputation reflects the game as it ran then. Windows Central reported that Title Update 3.2 began rolling out on September 2, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, bringing performance changes and revised PC requirements. Windows Central’s update coverage is a more relevant starting point than launch reviews, but it is not a matched benchmark across current builds.

In a July 2026 interview, producer Oyama said the game had been tuned “to run at 60 FPS in Performance Mode on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.” That is a developer-stated target, not a guarantee of a locked 60 FPS in every area. The interview, reproduced by Changelog.gg, also said PC minimum and recommended requirements would be revised.
How the platforms compare now
| Platform | What the current evidence establishes | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| PC | Update 3.2 included revised PC requirements, but exact current minimum and recommended specifications are not established here. Performance depends on your components and settings. | Players who already have a capable gaming PC and want hardware and settings flexibility. |
| PS5 | Producer Oyama stated that Performance Mode was tuned for a 60 FPS target. Exact current resolution and frame-rate ranges by mode are not established here. | Players who own a PS5 and want a straightforward console option. |
| Xbox Series X | Producer Oyama stated the same 60 FPS Performance Mode target. Windows Central reported a 60 FPS maximum with FSR after the update; its author briefly checked the Series X update, which is not a controlled benchmark. | Players who own a Series X and want a straightforward console option. |
The table is not a head-to-head test. Available reporting does not establish which current version has the sharper image or steadier frame rate in comparable scenes. Windows Central also reported a 45 FPS maximum with FSR on Series S, but that is a different console from Series X and does not decide between the platforms compared here.

Which version should you buy?
Choose PC if you already have a suitable gaming computer
PC is the natural choice if you value adjustable settings and already own hardware that can run the updated game. Check the current requirements on the game’s PC listing before buying: the update changed them, and the exact revised CPU and GPU specifications are not established in the sources available here. Do not use a launch-era spec list as if it were current.
Choose PS5 or Xbox Series X if you already own one
Either console is a reasonable choice if it is already in your living room. Both have a stated Performance Mode target of 60 FPS, but a target should not be read as a promise that every scene will hold that rate. There is not enough current, matched evidence to recommend PS5 over Series X or Series X over PS5 on image quality or consistency.

Do not buy a new system for this game based on an assumed winner
If you would need to purchase a console or upgrade a PC specifically for Dragon’s Dogma 2, compare the total cost and other games you want to play. No current system-price comparison or verified post-update PC specification is available here to support a cost-based winner. Avoid paying extra on the assumption that one platform has definitively better current performance.

Capcom describes Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen as an expansion for the existing game, scheduled for October 9, 2026. Its announcement lists Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for the expansion; this comparison concerns PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. A base-game listing should not be assumed to include the expansion. Capcom’s June 10, 2026 announcement also reports more than 14 million cumulative units sold for the Dragon’s Dogma series as of March 31, 2026—that figure is for the series, not Dragon’s Dogma 2 alone.

Why older reviews may disagree with current advice
Digital Foundry’s March 22, 2024 review examined launch-era performance and image quality on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, including CPU and optimization concerns. It is useful for understanding the game’s original technical reputation, but it predates Title Update 3.2 and cannot establish how the current builds compare. Read the launch-era technical review as historical context, not as a current platform verdict.
