Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteDragon’s Dogma 2 is the base game; Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is its upcoming paid expansion and, on some platforms, the name of a bundle that includes both. Capcom scheduled the expansion for October 9, 2026, so as of October 4, it has not yet launched. The expansion is not a renamed version of the base game.
There is a similarly named older release: Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen refers to the original game and its expansion, not this new Dragon’s Dogma 2 add-on. Capcom’s announcement describes Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen as a paid expansion for the game released in March 2024.

What’s different between the base game and Dark Arisen?
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the 2024 main game. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen adds a new story and other content to it; the name also appears on editions that bundle the expansion with the main game. Capcom says the expansion is intended to add content and improve accessibility in response to feedback, but that stated intent does not establish that any particular difficulty, usability, or performance issue has been resolved.
| Product | What it includes | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Dragon’s Dogma 2 | The base game. The US PlayStation Store lists a Standard Edition, and Xbox’s comparison lists it as the included game in its bundle. | New players who want the main game without the expansion. |
| Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Expansion | The standalone add-on. Capcom Town says it requires Dragon’s Dogma 2 and may require the latest patch. | Players who already own the base game on the platform where they plan to play. |
| Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen bundle or edition | The main game plus expansion. The cited PS5 listing also includes an Explorer’s Camping Kit, custom sounds, and a Norgan Fashion Set; Xbox lists the game, expansion, and extras. | New players who want both. Check the live local listing to confirm the contents. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 package | Capcom says the Switch 2 version combines the main game and expansion in one package. | Switch 2 buyers seeking both parts in a single package. |
| PC / Steam expansion | Capcom Town labels the add-on as a Steam product and lists PC requirements on its product page. Console bundle details should not be assumed to apply to PC. | PC players should verify the current Steam listing, requirements, and bundle arrangement. |
The cited US storefronts showed different purchase structures on October 4, 2026: PlayStation listed the base game, expansion, and bundle separately, while Xbox listed the expansion and a bundle. Storefront structures and prices can change by region and over time.

Which version should you choose?
- If you do not own the game: Compare the base game plus standalone expansion against the Dark Arisen bundle in your region. Check the bundle’s item list rather than assuming extras are identical across platforms.
- If you already own Dragon’s Dogma 2: Look for the standalone expansion on that same platform and confirm compatibility with your existing game. Do not buy a bundle that includes a second copy of the base game unless you want it.
- If you play on Nintendo Switch 2: Capcom announced one package combining the main game and expansion; this differs from the separate choices shown on the cited PS5 and Xbox stores.
- If you play on PC: Check the current Steam product page for the expansion’s availability, requirements, and any bundle options instead of applying console listings to PC.
- Before checkout: Compare current local prices and contents, and check whether another set product already includes an item you are considering. Capcom Town specifically warns that another set includes the same item.
What did the listed prices show?
At access on October 4, 2026, the US PlayStation Store showed $39.99 for the Standard Edition, $49.99 for Dark Arisen, and $29.99 for the expansion add-on. The Xbox listing showed $49.99+ for the bundle and $29.99 for the expansion. These are region-specific storefront observations from that date, not universal or guaranteed current prices.
Is Dark Arisen the same as the original Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen?
No. Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is the older title associated with the first Dragon’s Dogma game. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is the name of a newly announced paid expansion for Dragon’s Dogma 2, and of bundles that include it on some platforms. Capcom describes Dragon’s Dogma 2 as a new adventure in a parallel world while referring separately to the original game and its Dark Arisen expansion.
