DoorDash’s published Dasher guidance requires a drop-off photo for deliveries covered by that guidance, but its reviewed consumer privacy page does not describe a customer-facing way to turn that photo off. Amazon documents a “Do not take a photo” option for eligible unattended deliveries in Japan; that should not be treated as a global setting for all Amazon orders.
What counts as a delivery photo?
This comparison is about an image a driver or courier captures at drop-off as delivery confirmation or to help the recipient find a parcel or order. DoorDash also has a separate feature for customer-submitted food photos. Those images are not the same as a Dasher’s proof-of-delivery photo.

How DoorDash delivery photos work
DoorDash’s Dasher guidance says the app requires a proof-of-delivery drop-off photo for deliveries covered by the instructions. It advises Dashers to keep the bag visible and clear, include surrounding features, and use adequate lighting. That describes a driver-side workflow, not a customer preference setting. Can I turn off DoorDash delivery photos?
The reviewed DoorDash consumer privacy page and Dasher photo guidance do not document a customer-facing switch for turning off delivery drop-off photos. This does not establish that support can never address a particular situation; it means the published material reviewed does not describe a per-delivery photo-off control. DoorDash’s privacy page does document broader controls such as accessing account data, requesting deletion, managing advertising choices, changing location access, and managing communications. Those controls are not described as ways to disable a delivery photo. DoorDash Privacy

Are DoorDash food photos the same thing?
No. DoorDash’s separate FAQ covers photos customers submit of food. Approved images may appear on a restaurant page and, when associated with a review, alongside that review. This is distinct from a Dasher’s delivery-evidence image. DoorDash Help Center: Photos FAQs
How Amazon delivery photos work
Amazon Japan’s unattended-delivery option
About Amazon Japan explains that customers can view unattended-delivery photos through order history and, if they do not want a photo, select “写真を撮影しない” (“Do not take a photo”). The feature is described in the context of Japan’s unattended-delivery service, and whether it is available depends on the delivery situation. It is evidence for an eligible Japan delivery, not a universal Amazon setting. About Amazon Japan: Amazon’s unattended-delivery guide

Its customer-experience guide also describes preferred delivery locations that customers can set through the tracking site. This is guidance for Amazon Shipping; it does not establish whether ordinary Amazon retail customers outside Japan can opt out of delivery photos. What to check before your next delivery
- DoorDash: Do not assume that changing location access, advertising preferences, or account data settings turns off a Dasher’s required proof photo; the published guidance describes no customer photo-off toggle.
- Amazon in Japan: For an eligible unattended delivery, look for “写真を撮影しない” (“Do not take a photo”) in the applicable delivery flow. Availability depends on the delivery situation.
- Amazon elsewhere: Check the order’s current delivery options, but do not infer that the Japan control applies in your country or to every Amazon service.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
