Bryan Seaver, Dolly Parton’s nephew, asked a Tennessee court for about 10 more days to find a lawyer before a hearing on a temporary restraining order involving him and his security company, Squadron Augmented Protection Services (SAPS). The Associated Press reported on October 2, 2026, that the judge had not yet ruled on his request.

Why Seaver asked for more time

Seaver filed the motion on Friday, October 2, while representing himself, according to the AP. He said he needed time to arrange legal representation and that the attorney he wants to consult could not meet with him until Monday.

The motion says the defendants lack the legal knowledge or skills to proceed without retained counsel and describes potential challenges they may need to raise. Seaver also said he would not object to extending the temporary restraining order until a new hearing date. Those statements describe what the motion requested; they are not a court decision.

Had the hearing been delayed?

Not as of the AP’s October 2 report. Chancellor I’Ashea L. Myles had not responded to the motion at that time. The hearing was then scheduled for October 9, though a ruling granting additional time could change that schedule. The available account does not establish whether the request was later granted or whether the hearing took place.

What the temporary restraining order says

She’s Alive, the entity founded to manage and protect Parton’s estate and run by longtime manager Danny Nozell, filed a petition naming Seaver and SAPS. AP reported that a Tennessee judge granted the estate a temporary restraining order on September 23. As described in the AP report, the order restricts Seaver and SAPS from:

  • Entering She’s Alive property.
  • Contacting or coming within 1,000 feet of She’s Alive employees and business partners.
  • Interfering with the entity’s business relationships.

The order is temporary, and the dispute’s merits remain unresolved in the reports cited here.

What is alleged, and what has been established

She’s Alive’s petition alleges that Seaver sent increasingly threatening messages and made demands for payment. AP also reported that the court’s order referred to allegations concerning Seaver’s “claimed access to weapons, experience with violence, and intention to retaliate.” These are allegations and language attributed to the order, not independently established facts or a final finding of liability.

The procedural update above reflects the AP account published October 2, 2026; its September 23 report covered the temporary order. No later court action is established by those reports.
