Who can enroll, and is the program available at your address?
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a free book-gifting program for eligible children from birth to age five. Eligibility alone does not guarantee enrollment: local partners cover defined geographic areas and enroll children who live within the area they serve. See the official program terms and U.S. program overview.

In the United States, use the official program finder to look up the child’s postcode. It provides a map and local champion listings; if no program covers the address, the page offers a way to leave contact information for notice if service becomes available. Other countries have their own official program pages and finders, so use the one for your country.
How to register
Registration methods depend on the local partner. Some accept online registration; others require a mailed form or in-person registration. Confirm the current method on the local partner’s profile or by contacting the partner directly. The support center explains that methods vary by location.

Which books children receive
In the U.S. program, children receive a shared welcome book, followed by age-appropriate titles beginning the next month. The U.S. book list identifies a customized version of The Little Engine That Could as the welcome book. Selections differ by country; see the U.S. book list for its current titles.
When should the first book arrive?
The Foundation’s support FAQ estimates eight to twelve weeks from registration to the first book, depending on when registration is completed. Books are ordered a month ahead, so the estimate is not a promised delivery date. For example, the FAQ says a child registered January 6 and approved in January would receive the first book in March. After the first delivery, books are sent monthly. See the delivery guidance.

If you did not provide one, contact the local affiliate to check the registration. Approval or entry into the system and postal transit are separate parts of the process; the eight-to-twelve-week estimate is for expected arrival of the first book. See the approval guidance.
An older U.S. operations manual, revised in December 2022, notes that books can seem missing because they are not yet due or are delayed, and that siblings’ books may arrive on different days or weeks. Treat this as context, not as a delivery guarantee. The manual is available here.

What should you do if you move?
- Contact the current local affiliate promptly. Provide the new address and ask it to update the child’s enrollment. The Foundation’s address-change guidance directs families to their local affiliate.
- Use the parent portal if available. Select the child’s account and choose “Change Address.” Availability of the portal may vary.
- Check the new address for coverage. A move may take the child outside the local program area. Use the relevant country’s official finder, then ask the local partner to confirm the account update.
The cancellation and address guidance also directs families to the local program partner for address changes; do not use the cancellation form just to report a move.
What if books stop arriving?
Contact the local Imagination Library affiliate and ask it to check the child’s enrollment and delivery. Find the partner through the official U.S. finder, or use the official finder for the child’s country. The Foundation’s missing-book guidance does not specify a universal investigation timeline or promise a replacement.

What if a book arrives damaged?
The Foundation’s support FAQ recommends reporting the damage to the local postmaster and contacting the local program partner for help. It says the Foundation does not keep spare books in stock because books are ordered in advance and shipped directly to children’s homes. Its guidance does not guarantee a replacement. See the damaged-book answer.

How do you stop deliveries?
If you no longer want books, use the Foundation’s cancellation form. The page says submitting the form immediately deletes the matching child enrollment and removes the child from future book orders. Because orders are placed the month before delivery, up to two books already in process may still arrive. For a move or address correction, contact the local partner instead.
