How YouTube calculates the creator’s iOS share
YouTube’s Help page, “Manage YouTube Super Chat & Super Stickers for Live Chat,” says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google. For iOS, YouTube calculates that share after deducting local sales tax and App Store fees. In other words, the 70% applies to the remaining base—not automatically to the full amount the viewer paid.

YouTube also says it currently covers transaction costs, including credit-card fees. Those costs should not be confused with the named iOS App Store fee deduction.

Why there is no single mobile payout example
The documented iOS calculation depends on local sales tax and App Store fees, and YouTube does not give a universal fee percentage or worked example. The amount a creator receives from a particular viewer payment therefore cannot be calculated from the published percentage alone. Avoid treating the 70% figure as 70% of every viewer’s full payment.

YouTube’s “YouTube partner earnings overview” describes the Commerce Product Module as paying 70% of net revenues for channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks. It also says revenue share follows the partner agreement and that creators can view their agreements in YouTube Studio. For an individual channel’s applicable terms, check that agreement rather than assume a payout example applies universally.
What creators should take away
- iOS: the documented order is to deduct local sales tax and App Store fees, then calculate the creator’s 70% share of confirmed Supers revenue.
- Credit-card fees: YouTube says it currently covers transaction costs including these fees.
- Android: the Google Play notice confirms a billing-route change for some purchases, not a different creator cut.
- Exact proceeds: YouTube’s cited public pages do not establish one universal dollar comparison across platforms, countries, and purchase amounts.
