Does Xbox Give You Anything Free on Your Birthday?

Xbox does not promise every player a free game or physical gift for their birthday. Current reporting describes a Microsoft Rewards offer for eligible members: 2x Rewards points on eligible games and add-ons bought from the Store during birthday week. It is tied to a purchase, and you should check your Rewards Hub account to see whether it is available to you.

What is the Xbox birthday offer?

Pure Xbox reported on April 23, 2026, that eligible Microsoft Rewards members can earn 2x Rewards points on eligible games and add-ons purchased from the Store during the week of their birthday. The report describes birthday week as Monday through Sunday, with the bonus points claimable during the following week. Read the report.

This is a points bonus on qualifying purchases—not a free game, console, subscription, or gift card automatically given to every Xbox player. The report does not establish one fixed points payout for everyone.

How to check whether you qualify

1. Sign in to your Microsoft account and open the Rewards Hub.
2. Look for the birthday offer and read its current terms, including eligible purchases and the claim window.
3. If the offer appears, follow the instructions shown there. Do not assume a purchase qualifies unless the offer says it does.

Microsoft describes Rewards with Xbox as part of its free Microsoft Rewards program for Microsoft account holders, but earning opportunities and offers can vary. See Microsoft’s Rewards with Xbox overview and Microsoft’s Rewards guidance.

Why the offer may not appear

The birthday report refers to eligible Rewards members, but it does not provide a complete official list of eligible regions, accounts, or other conditions. Microsoft says Rewards and redemption availability can depend on account and market conditions. The live terms in your Rewards Hub are the best place to confirm eligibility; no universal birthday award or points amount is established.

Is this the same as Game Pass in-game benefits?

No. Xbox describes Game Pass in-game benefits as perks for participating games and eligible members, not as an automatic birthday present. Their availability depends on the game and membership. See Xbox’s Game Pass plan comparison and its explanation of in-game benefits.
