What cross-play and cross-progression would mean
Cross-play lets people on different platforms join the same multiplayer session—for example, a player on Steam joining someone on PlayStation 5. Cross-progression, sometimes called cross-save, lets someone carry their game progress from one platform to another. They are separate features: a game might support one without the other.

For Waltz and Jam, official materials reviewed as of October 13, 2026 do not announce either feature. They also do not establish that players can join multiplayer sessions at all. That distinction matters: the characters may cooperate in the story, but that does not mean two people can play together.

The platform announcement gives a planned worldwide release date of December 3, 2026. That date is still in the future as of October 13, 2026, so the available store and announcement details should be treated as the currently published information—not a guarantee that no feature will be added later.

Do Steam Cloud or Nintendo cloud saves transfer progress?
No such transfer is established by those listings. Steam Cloud and Nintendo Switch Online Save Data Cloud are cloud-save features associated with their respective platforms. Their presence indicates cloud functionality, not that a save can be moved between Steam, Switch 2, and PS5 or that the platforms share a common progression account.
In practical terms, do not buy a second version assuming you can continue the same save on another system. The official sources reviewed do not say whether saves are compatible across platforms, whether account linking exists, or whether a transfer process will be available.

Can you play with a friend on another platform?
There is no announced cross-play support to rely on. More fundamentally, the Steam listing calls the game single-player, and Nintendo lists one player on a single Switch 2 system. Those details do not describe a multiplayer mode. The announcement of a PS5 version alongside Steam and Switch 2 is not, by itself, evidence that players can meet in a shared session.

What to check before choosing a platform
- For multiplayer: look for an explicit statement that the game supports online or local multiplayer, then check whether cross-play is named and which platforms are included.
- For carrying a save: look for an explicit cross-progression or cross-save announcement, including any required account link and the platforms covered. A cloud-save badge alone is not enough.
- For a single-platform purchase: use the current store listing for that platform to verify its features and requirements. Steam recommends a controller; Nintendo’s cloud-save listing requires Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Until a feature is specifically announced, the safest expectation is to choose the platform where you intend to play and not count on a friend joining from another system or a save continuing across systems.
