No. Vampire Crawlers is documented as a single-player game, not a local co-op or online multiplayer title. Steam: “Single-player”
Steam’s Vampire Crawlers listing identifies the game as “Single-player.” That is the clearest platform-level description of how the game is intended to be played: one person controls the run, makes the decisions and progresses through the game. The listing does not provide a local multiplayer, online co-op or competitive multiplayer label.

A single-player label is stronger evidence than the presence of a controller option or the fact that a game is sold digitally. A supported gamepad changes the input method; it does not imply that another person can join the session.
Nintendo Switch and Switch 2: one system, one player
Nintendo’s official listings for the Switch and Switch 2 editions each specify “Single system (1).” In practical terms, that means one player on one console. The listings do not describe a second-player mode, split-screen play, shared-screen co-op or an online multiplayer service.
The two Nintendo editions therefore answer the local-multiplayer question directly: buying the game for a Switch family console does not provide a way for two people to play together on that system.

Does Vampire Crawlers have local co-op?
There is no documented local co-op mode. You cannot rely on two controllers, two Joy-Con sets or a second person sitting beside you to create a playable second character. The official Nintendo player count remains one, and the Steam mode label remains single-player.

Why controller support is not co-op
poncle’s FAQ confirms: “Yes. Controller support is included.” That statement concerns input compatibility. It means a player can use a supported controller instead of a keyboard, mouse or touchscreen where applicable. It does not say that the game accepts two simultaneous players, assigns a second character or offers a couch-co-op menu.
If you connect another controller and do not see a player-join prompt, that is consistent with the published mode information rather than evidence that a setting is missing. No official instruction describes a hidden local multiplayer switch.
The mobile FAQ’s co-op answer is a joke
poncle’s mobile FAQ answers a co-op question with: “You can play with one to infinite people. One person plays, the others watch and critique your choices. :)” This is humorous wording about spectators, not an announcement of shared control, online matchmaking or a multiplayer feature. Only the person holding the device is playing the game.
Does Vampire Crawlers have online multiplayer?
No online multiplayer or online co-op mode is documented in the official information reviewed. There is no published indication of party creation, matchmaking, friend invites, lobbies, raids or a mode in which two or more players control characters in the same run.

That distinction matters if you are deciding whether to buy separate copies for friends. Multiple copies would give each person an individual single-player game, not a documented way to join the same session. The same applies to different consoles or mobile devices: owning the game on more than one device does not, by itself, create an online connection between players.
Is cross-play supported?
Cross-play is not supported in the documented modes. The official pages reviewed do not publish a cross-play feature or describe players on different platforms joining one another. Instead, the strongest positive mode evidence says the game is single-player on Steam and one-player on Nintendo.
It is more precise to say that cross-play is not documented than to attribute a standalone “cross-play is not supported” quotation to poncle. The available FAQs do not contain a separate categorical cross-play answer. Their platform and mode descriptions provide the practical answer: there is no documented multiplayer session for cross-play to connect.

A cross-play feature would normally be described with terms such as cross-platform multiplayer, shared lobbies, invitations between console and PC accounts, or supported platform combinations. None of those functions is identified for Vampire Crawlers in the official material reviewed.

Cross-save is different from cross-play
Cross-save moves progression; cross-play lets people play together. Vampire Crawlers’ save-transfer information should not be read as evidence of multiplayer.
Status at the original launch
poncle’s release FAQ answered the launch cross-save question: “Not at launch, we’re looking into it on time for the mobile ports.” That answer concerned carrying a player’s own progress between devices. It did not promise the ability to join another player.
Mobile save sharing
The current mobile FAQ gives a narrower description. Mobile saves can be shared between Android devices or between Apple devices. The wording establishes same-platform-family transfer, not universal synchronization.

Which platforms have Vampire Crawlers?
poncle’s main FAQ lists Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PlayStation. The mobile FAQ gives October 12, 2026 as the iOS and Android release date. The game therefore exists across several platform families, but platform breadth should not be confused with multiplayer support.
For the Nintendo editions, the official listings identify the Switch and Switch 2 versions as digital and specify one player on one system. Steam likewise identifies the game as single-player. The platform list tells you where you can install the game; it does not tell you that those versions share online sessions.
Release dates relevant to the feature question
- April 21, 2026: poncle’s FAQ gives this as the game’s release date and names Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PlayStation.
- October 12, 2026: the current mobile FAQ gives this as the iOS and Android release date.
These dates matter because feature information can change with a later update. The mobile FAQ’s newer save details supersede the broader “not at launch” wording for the specific mobile scenarios it addresses, but neither source documents multiplayer.
How to check the status after an update
If you are checking an unusually recent build, use the game’s current official pages rather than assuming that a new platform release adds co-op. Look for an explicit mode label or feature description.
- Open the store page for your edition. Check the mode field. “Single-player” or “Single system (1)” means the listed edition is still presented as one-player.
- Read the latest poncle FAQ. Search for separate entries for multiplayer, co-op, cross-play and cross-save. Do not treat a cross-save answer as a multiplayer answer.
- Check the game’s update notes. A genuine multiplayer addition should identify the supported platforms, connection method and whether the mode is local, online or both.
- Verify account requirements. If cross-play is ever introduced, the instructions should explain invitations, matchmaking and account linking. Without those details, do not assume that different platform owners can meet in-game.
- Confirm the edition and date. Mobile, console and PC features can differ. Use the page for the platform you own and note when its information was published.
What this means if you want to play with friends
Vampire Crawlers is currently suited to a pass-the-controller or watch-and-comment situation, not a shared playable session. One person can play while others observe and discuss choices, matching the joke in the mobile FAQ, but friends cannot be documented as controlling additional characters or joining remotely.
If your purchase decision depends on multiplayer, treat the game as single-player unless an official update changes the store mode labels and provides concrete co-op or cross-play instructions. Buying a second copy, a second controller or a different platform edition does not solve the absence of a documented multiplayer mode.
Bottom line
Vampire Crawlers does not have documented co-op, online multiplayer or cross-play. Steam calls it single-player, Nintendo lists one player on one system, and poncle’s controller confirmation concerns input rather than additional players. Cross-save is a separate, limited progression feature: Android-to-Android and Apple-to-Apple sharing is described for mobile, while PC-to-mobile and console-to-mobile transfers were unavailable at the mobile launch.
