What Samsung’s eSIM support means for the Flip3
Samsung’s US Galaxy Z Flip3 5G datasheet lists one Nano-SIM slot and describes the phone as “eSIM capable (functionality dependent on carrier).” Samsung’s eSIM support list, dated July 1, 2026, also includes the Z Flip3, while noting that supported devices and service availability differ by country and carrier.

In practice, “supports eSIM” means the model family has eSIM capability; it is not a promise that a particular regional model, carrier account, or software setup can activate a plan. Samsung’s 2021 launch announcement likewise says eSIM availability may vary by software version, region, and carrier.

Check your particular Flip3 before choosing a plan
- Identify the handset. On the phone, open Settings > About phone and note the model information. Confirm it is a Galaxy Z Flip3 5G and share the exact model or regional variant with the carrier.
- Ask the carrier about that variant and account. Check whether it will activate eSIM on your exact Flip3 model and whether your line or account qualifies. General carrier eSIM support alone does not establish support for every regional Flip3 variant.
- Check the phone’s SIM settings. If the device and carrier support it, Samsung documents the path as Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM. Menu names can vary with software, carrier, and model.
Add an eSIM with the option your carrier provides
Samsung’s Galaxy SIM-card guidance describes two setup routes: scan a QR code supplied by the carrier, or use carrier discovery to search for a plan when that option is available. These are not interchangeable guarantees; which route appears depends on carrier support and the device’s software.

- QR code: Choose the eSIM add option and follow the phone’s prompts to scan the carrier-provided code.
- Carrier discovery: If offered, use the phone’s carrier-discovery flow to find a plan and follow the prompts.
Complete the carrier’s activation instructions as well. If you need a second number or carrier, Samsung says an eSIM can be used alongside a physical SIM; ask the carrier which line configuration it supports for your specific device.

Samsung identifies carrier, country or region, and software version as factors in eSIM availability, so first check those against your handset and carrier. Confirm that your carrier supports the exact regional variant, and check whether a software update is available. Samsung’s guidance does not establish one universal fix for a missing menu option; if the checks do not resolve it, ask the carrier or Samsung support to assess the specific model and software.
