Yes—the January 15, 2025 leak report showed Galaxy S25 promotional material depicting the “Hey, Gemini” wake phrase. But that leak does not establish that every retail S25 has a user-accessible “Hey Gemini” setting. Later court documents confirm a Google-Samsung agreement referenced “Hey Google” or “Hey Gemini” hotword invocation, while Google community guidance in April 2025 still described “Hey Google” as Android’s primary trigger.
What the Galaxy S25 leak showed
On January 15, 2025, Android Authority reported that leaked promotional material for the Galaxy S25 series showed the phones responding to “Hey, Gemini.” The report covered the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra, presenting the phrase as part of deeper Gemini integration. The reported demonstration also suggested Gemini could work across apps: it could identify places mentioned in a YouTube video and create a Note. That is what the promotional material appeared to demonstrate; it should not be read as confirmation that every model, region, or software version has identical cross-app actions.

The leak alone does not answer that for every buyer. A U.S. District Court memorandum filed September 2, 2025 described a Google-Samsung Gemini Commercial Agreement running from January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2027. It said qualified Samsung devices had to set a default hot word to invoke Gemini and referred to invocation using either “Hey Google” or “Hey Gemini.” Read the court memorandum.

The agreement is evidence of a contractual hotword requirement, not proof that every Galaxy S25 owner can select or use a separate “Hey Gemini” wake phrase in the phone’s settings. A Google Gemini Help Community response dated April 19, 2025 said that “Hey Google” remained the primary way to start Gemini on Android and that “Hey Gemini” was not then generally available as an alternative. Read the Google community response. That response is useful dated guidance, not a definitive specification for every later update or market.
What Galaxy S25 buyers should take from the evidence
- Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra: the leak report showed the same “Hey, Gemini” concept for the series, but it does not establish identical retail behavior across models.
- Default voice trigger: the court memorandum references “Hey Google” or “Hey Gemini” in the agreement; Google community guidance in April 2025 identified “Hey Google” as the primary Android trigger.
- Cross-app actions: the leaked demo suggested extracting places from a YouTube video and creating a Note, but feature availability can depend on software, region, and supported app extensions.
For a specific phone, check the current Samsung and Google documentation and the Gemini or assistant settings on that device after updating its software. Do not assume the leak guarantees a standalone “Hey Gemini” toggle or that all three S25 models expose the same options.
