It also supports Home Key tap, keypad codes and app control, so automatic entry is only one option. Whether hands-free Home Key works for you depends on exact Apple device and home-hub requirements.
What UWB adds to Apple Home Key
Home Key lets an Apple device act as a key for a compatible lock. With the Sense Pro, Schlage’s Converge feature uses Ultra Wideband (UWB) to assess your speed, trajectory and motion. Schlage says the lock unlocks when your approach indicates that you intend to enter, rather than simply because your phone is nearby. That is the idea behind hands-free approach unlocking.

Schlage also describes its UWB implementation as using IEEE 802.15.4z and the standard’s Scrambled Timestamp Sequence to help resist eavesdropping and tampering. That is the company’s account of its security design, not an independent security audit.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

The practical distinction is that UWB is intended to help the lock distinguish an approach toward the door from mere proximity. It does not mean every walk past the door should unlock it, nor does Schlage’s description establish how reliably it will behave in every home.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Does the Sense Pro unlock when you walk up?
Schlage offers three hands-free entrance modes, with different expectations at the door:
- Intuitive: Schlage describes this as unlocking automatically as you reach the door.
- Touch: The lock detects your approach, but you still need to touch it to unlock.
- Delay: Unlocking occurs after a short delay at the door.
These modes let you choose between hands-free entry and an extra physical action. The lock also supports NFC Home Key tap-to-unlock, keypad codes, app control and one-touch locking.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Apple devices and hub required for hands-free Home Key
Schlage’s listed requirements for hands-free Home Key are specific. It supports iPhone 11 and later, except iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation) and iPhone 16e, running iOS 18.5 or later. For Apple Watch, Schlage lists Series 6 and later, excluding Apple Watch SE, running watchOS 11.5 or later. A compatible Thread-enabled home hub is also required. Check Schlage’s compatibility information for supported hub models and current software requirements before buying.
Schlage says the lock can be paired with Apple Home; that pairing commissions Home Key. The Schlage Home app is optional and adds Schlage-specific remote management and settings. Apple Home remote control and automations require a home hub, according to Schlage Residential Support. Available remote and ecosystem features depend on your setup.

Schlage has described Aliro wallet support as expected after certification. That does not establish that Samsung Wallet or Google Wallet support is available now, so do not assume an Android phone can use the Sense Pro’s UWB hands-free Home Key feature.
Connectivity, codes and outage behavior
The Sense Pro supports Matter over Thread and has built-in Wi-Fi. Schlage lists up to 250 custom access codes, configurable auto-lock settings and ANSI Grade 2. Thread can support compatible smart-home integrations; Schlage says Matter-over-Thread devices can continue to work if Wi-Fi goes out. Its FAQ says hands-free unlocking, Bluetooth access through Schlage Home and keypad access remain available during power or Wi-Fi outages. Remote access and ecosystem-specific functions still depend on the home’s hubs, connectivity and configuration.

What one hands-on review found
In an August 5, 2026 review, Tom’s Guide reported using the Sense Pro for more than two months. The reviewer said the lock opened while approaching with an iPhone in hand or pocket, but did not unlock when they merely lingered near the entrance. That is a positive account of the approach behavior in one home—not evidence that every installation will respond identically.
The same reviewer reported a battery level of 51% after a couple of weeks in the tested setup. They later attributed the rapid drain to connecting the lock simultaneously to Apple Home over Thread and the Schlage app over Wi-Fi, said the manufacturer did not recommend that arrangement, and reported better drain after resetting to Thread alone. This is a configuration-specific observation, not a general battery-life result or proof of a universal defect.

Launch date and price
Schlage announced Sense Pro at CES on January 6, 2025, initially saying it would be available later that year. Its June 16, 2026 launch announcement set retail availability for June 29, 2026. Schlage lists a US MSRP of $399 and names Amazon, Lowe’s and The Home Depot among national retailers. MSRP is not a guaranteed current selling price; check retailers for availability and pricing.
That price makes compatibility and entry preferences central to the buying decision: the UWB approach feature is useful only if you have the supported Apple devices and a compatible Thread hub, while the lock’s keypad and tap options provide alternatives when you do not want hands-free entry.
How it compares with the Aqara U400
Tom’s Guide identifies the Aqara U400 as another UWB lock and says it adds a fingerprint reader alongside its keypad. The available comparison does not establish a current price or a complete side-by-side compatibility assessment. Before choosing between them, verify each lock’s current phone support, hub and ecosystem requirements, alternative entry methods, security grade, physical-key design, price and availability.
