Which Galaxy Watch models support payments?
Samsung’s U.S. FAQ distinguishes the newer Wallet experience from payment-card support on earlier models:

This distinction matters: Samsung Wallet includes Samsung Pay’s payment features along with additional wallet functions, but those extra functions should not be assumed to work on every watch. Will it work with your phone, country, and card?
A compatible watch is only one requirement. Samsung’s U.S. FAQ says Samsung Wallet on a Galaxy Watch requires a compatible Galaxy mobile device. With a non-Samsung Android phone, the watch supports Samsung Pay, rather than Samsung Wallet. Samsung says Wallet is unavailable on iOS. Requirements vary by watch generation, so there is no single Android minimum that applies to every Galaxy Watch; consult Samsung’s watch and phone compatibility information.
- Country: The payment service and supported watch models vary by market. Check Samsung’s country and device availability list for your location.
- Bank and card: Your issuer and specific card must be eligible. Samsung’s setup requirements include a supported card and residence in a country where the bank supports verification; confirm with both Samsung’s local support and your card issuer.
- Accounts and software: Setup requires a compatible watch and phone and a Samsung account. Availability can also depend on software and regional configuration.
How to set up Samsung Pay or Wallet on the watch
Use the phone paired with your watch. The exact labels vary by model, and cards already registered on the phone may still need to be activated for watch payments.

- On the phone, open Galaxy Wearable. If the payment app is not visible on the watch, activate Samsung Pay through Galaxy Wearable as described in Samsung’s instructions for opening Samsung Pay on a Galaxy phone or watch.
- For newer watches, open Watch settings > Pay in Galaxy Wearable. On Watch4, Samsung gives a different route: Apps or App settings. Select the payment app and follow the prompts. See Samsung’s setup instructions for Wallet on a phone or watch.
- Add a supported payment card, or import an eligible card already registered on the phone, then complete the bank or issuer’s verification and activation steps. Registration and verification can vary by region and wireless provider; Samsung’s card-addition guidance covers the process.
- Set a four-digit watch PIN if prompted. Samsung says some watch setups require one.
How to pay with the watch
Open the payment app on the watch, choose the card you want to use, and hold the watch near the contactless payment terminal. Samsung’s dated Galaxy Watch payment instructions, published July 13, 2026, describe holding the watch near the terminal and require at least one compatible payment card to be added and activated.

What to check if setup or payment is unavailable
- Confirm the exact watch model supports the payment feature in your country; support for Samsung Pay card payments does not automatically mean access to all Samsung Wallet functions.
- Check that the paired phone meets the requirements for that watch and feature. Non-Samsung Android compatibility is limited to Samsung Pay on the watch according to Samsung’s U.S. FAQ.
- Verify that your bank and exact card participate, and finish any issuer verification or activation.
- Check that the watch and phone software are current and that the payment app has been activated in Galaxy Wearable.
