What the rule covers
The statement applies to RIDGID’s power-tool Lifetime Service Agreement (LSA). It doesn’t mean every RIDGID-branded product shares these terms, because other product lines can have their own warranties. The LSA page carries no named author or publication date. Confirm the terms for your exact tool with RIDGID.

RIDGID ties the LSA to the original purchaser. Its described process is account-based and starts with the purchase:

- The purchaser registers the tool within 90 days of purchase (per RIDGID’s current LSA page, accessed 2026).
- They enter the model and serial numbers and upload a receipt, which RIDGID uses to verify the purchase.
- To make a claim, they sign in, select the tool under “My Tools,” file the claim, and use the shipping label provided for service.
RIDGID describes no way for a second owner to take over a registration. A seller who registered the tool still holds that registration, and the page doesn’t say it passes with the tool. If the seller hands over a login or receipt, that doesn’t create a transfer. It is also not an exception that RIDGID has said it allows.
What this means when you buy a used tool
- Price it as unwarranted. Treat the tool as having no LSA, and any coverage you do get as a bonus.
- Check the exact product line. Confirm the tool is a power tool or battery the LSA covers.
- Ask RIDGID directly if it matters. The published terms are clear, but if the purchase is large, contact RIDGID with the model and serial number. I haven’t confirmed that any exception exists.
- Don’t rely on a listing. A retailer or marketplace listing, Amazon included, doesn’t establish LSA eligibility. The sources reviewed don’t establish which retailers qualify, so check the model, retailer, purchase documentation and current terms with RIDGID.

As the original purchaser, you need to meet RIDGID’s conditions:

- Register within 90 days of purchase. Late or missing registration is a listed exclusion.
- Keep the receipt, since RIDGID uses it to validate the purchase.
- Know the limits. RIDGID lists qualifying failures and wear items. Exclusions include misuse, neglect, unauthorized repairs or alterations, and consumable accessories.
If you plan to sell or give the tool away, the LSA stays with you, not the tool. Tell the buyer plainly that it doesn’t transfer.
