Does PSSR Work in Every PS5 Pro Game?

PS5 Pro can play all PS5 games, but PSSR support is game-specific. Sony’s Enhanced PSSR setting works only in supported titles.

No. PSSR support is specific to each game: the PS5 Pro can play all PS5 games, but that does not mean every game uses PSSR. Sony’s optional “Enhance PSSR Image Quality” setting applies only to PS5 Pro games that already support PSSR, and Sony says results vary by title.

Why PSSR does not work in every PS5 Pro game

PSSR is an AI upscaling feature implemented for supported games, not a console-wide effect automatically applied to everything the PS5 Pro runs. Sony describes PSSR as analyzing frames pixel by pixel while upscaling game visuals. Whether a game supports it depends on that title’s implementation.

Sony separately says the PS5 Pro can play all PS5 games. That is a compatibility statement about running games, not a promise that each game uses PSSR. The distinction matters: a game can be playable on PS5 Pro without supporting PSSR.

Sony does not publish a verified total or percentage of PS5 Pro games that use PSSR. Its official supported-title list is useful for identifying some enhanced-PSSR games, but it is not a complete list of every game using any version of PSSR.

Which PS5 Pro games support Enhanced PSSR?

Sony’s US PS5 Pro page currently lists these titles under “Supported titles with Enhanced PSSR”:

  • Resident Evil Requiem
  • SILENT HILL f
  • SILENT HILL 2
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
  • Alan Wake 2
  • Control
  • Monster Hunter Wilds
  • Dragon’s Dogma 2
  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard
  • Nioh 3
  • Rise of the Ronin
  • Crimson Desert
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows
  • Cyberpunk 2077

This is Sony’s listed set of Enhanced PSSR titles, not a definitive inventory of all games using original PSSR. Game support and patches can change, so check Sony’s PS5 Pro page for the latest list.

What the Enhanced PSSR setting does

On PS5 Pro, go to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output and turn on Enhance PSSR Image Quality. It is an optional system setting for compatible games; it does not add PSSR support to a game that lacks it.

Sony’s March 16, 2026 announcement describes an updated PSSR system and says owners can try it with PS5 Pro games that already support PSSR. New-version adoption still depends on title support and updates. Sony said most new PS5 Pro titles would launch with enhanced PSSR going forward; that is Sony’s stated expectation, not a guarantee that every new game will include it.

If the setting causes unexpected visual effects in a game, Sony says it can be disabled. The choice is therefore something to assess title by title rather than a universal quality upgrade.

What differences should you expect?

The upgraded PSSR is intended to improve image stability and fine detail, but the visible result depends on the game and how it implements the technology. Sony’s developer comments describe improvements in areas such as image stability, detail, motion clarity, and specific visual effects in their own titles. Those descriptions should not be treated as a promise of the same outcome in every game.

When comparing two games, distinguish four things: whether each supports PSSR at all; whether it is specifically identified as Enhanced PSSR; whether an update or setting is needed; and what image-quality trade-offs or artifacts occur in that particular game. Sony’s warning is explicit: results vary by title.

PSSR and QSSR are different

Sony announced Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR) on October 1, 2026, as a separate, streamlined AI-upscaling library for PS5. Sony named Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei as its first QSSR titles. QSSR is not another name for PS5 Pro PSSR, and the announcement does not change which PS5 Pro games support PSSR.
