No. QSSR is supported by individual PS5 games that adopt Sony’s upscaling library, not automatically by every game. Sony has not published a QSSR-compatible TV list or explained how the feature behaves at each output resolution. Check game support separately from whether your display and HDMI setup can accept the PS5’s chosen signal.
Which PS5 games support QSSR?
Sony’s first announced games with Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR) are Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei. Sony says each adds QSSR as a graphics option on PS5. Other games may adopt the library, but Sony’s announcement does not promise support in every game.

QSSR is a game-level feature: the title must implement it, and the relevant graphics option may depend on the game and its update. Sony describes QSSR as a neural-network-based upscaling feature intended to improve image detail and stability. Those are Sony’s qualitative claims; the announcement provides no numerical benchmark.
Sony says QSSR will be offered broadly to PlayStation developers. That is an invitation for developers to use it, not confirmation that any particular unannounced game—or every PS5 game—will support it. See Sony’s QSSR announcement for the named titles and feature details.

Does QSSR require a 4K TV?
Sony has not specified that QSSR requires a 4K display. Its QSSR announcement does not give a TV or monitor compatibility list, nor does it say that the feature is restricted to a particular panel resolution.
For PS5 output generally, Sony says a 4K TV is not required. Its FAQ lists 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and 2160p output resolutions; 2160p output requires a 4K display. Sony’s separate PS5 resolution guide also notes that 4K output requires a compatible 4K screen and the appropriate video output setting.

That general console guidance does not establish exactly how a QSSR-enabled game behaves on a 1080p TV or monitor. Sony has not published a QSSR-specific resolution matrix, and it has not documented each title’s internal rendering resolution or output behavior. So you can use PS5 with lower-resolution displays, but the available information does not confirm every detail of QSSR’s behavior on them.
Display compatibility and QSSR are separate checks
Whether a game uses QSSR and whether your setup accepts a particular video signal are different questions. A QSSR-enabled game does not by itself guarantee that a TV, monitor, HDMI connection, or intermediary device supports the resolution and refresh rate you want.

- Game: Confirm that the specific title implements QSSR and offers the relevant graphics option.
- Display: Check which resolutions and refresh rates the TV or monitor accepts.
- Connection: For the target signal, check the HDMI port, cable, console settings, firmware, and any receiver or other device in the connection path.
What to check for 4K/120 Hz
4K/120 Hz is a display-connection capability, not a QSSR requirement. Sony’s setup guidance calls for a TV that supports the signal and has suitable firmware, the correct HDMI input, an appropriate connection path, a suitable Ultra High-Speed HDMI cable (Sony also recommends the included PS5 cable), and the right PS5 video output settings. Check Sony’s resolution and connection instructions for the setup details.
If you are not aiming for 4K/120 Hz, do not treat those requirements as prerequisites for QSSR. Sony’s available documentation does not say that you need to buy a new TV or cable just to use the feature.
