Not necessarily—and the available information does not establish whether Pixel Search sends your web-suggestion queries to Google. The third-party Android app’s Google Play listing says it uses Internet access for web suggestions and supports custom search engines, but it does not name the default provider or the destination of requests. Its developer says the app does not collect personal information or store information on a server; those are developer statements, not an independent check of network traffic.
First, which “Pixel Search” do you mean?
Pixel Search: Universal Search is a third-party Android app by Rushikesh Kamewar. It is not the search feature built into Google Pixel phones. The distinction matters: their documented features and privacy information are different.

The app’s Google Play listing describes local searches for apps, shortcuts, contacts, and files, alongside web suggestions. Google separately explains that built-in Pixel search can find content on the phone and the web in its Pixel phone search help.

The Play listing says, “Internet permission: Only used to get web suggestions,” and “Supports custom installed search engines.” That means web-suggestion functionality involves network access. It does not tell readers which provider receives suggestions by default, the request URL, or whether every query is sent anywhere. A search of local apps, contacts, or files should not be conflated with a web query or a web search launched from the app.

The listing showed an app update date of February 14, 2026, when checked October 7, 2026. That date does not identify the app’s current suggestion endpoint.
What the developer says about collection and storage
The Google Play Data safety section lists the developer’s declarations “No data shared with third parties” and “No data collected.” Google notes on the listing that these practices are supplied by the developer and may change. They are not a network-traffic audit.

The developer’s privacy policy, effective June 16, 2023, says “NO PERSONAL INFORMATION is collected,” “No information is stored on the server,” and “App does not log any data.” It also says app information remains on the user’s device and that the app does not use cookies. Because the policy predates the listing’s February 2026 update, it should not be treated as a technical description of every later app version.

If a query does reach Google, what might Google collect?
Google’s privacy policy, effective October 1, 2026, says Google may collect search terms entered in its services and technical details such as IP address, device and app details, and the date, time, and referrer URL of a request. Depending on settings, activity on Google services may be saved in account history. This describes Google’s practices when its services are used; it does not show that Pixel Search routes queries to Google.

A Google Play reviewer dated August 1, 2026, alleged that enabling Google search suggestions caused requests over cleartext HTTP. This is an unverified user report, not a confirmed developer statement or an independently reproduced test. It may depend on the app version or configuration, so it does not establish the app’s current transport security or prove that all queries follow that route.

How to interpret the privacy answer
- Local search: The listing describes searching apps, shortcuts, contacts, and files, but does not provide an independent technical account of how those searches are processed.
- Web suggestions: The listing says they use Internet access. The default provider and request destination are not documented there.
- Collection claims: The developer says it collects no personal information and stores no information on a server; those declarations do not independently verify what network requests occur.
- Google’s built-in search: If you mean search on the Pixel phone itself, consult Google’s Pixel search help and privacy policy; that is a separate product from the third-party app.
