Not necessarily—and LiveReacting’s public documentation does not promise that a playlist of mixed-resolution videos will retain each clip’s native quality. It says it can encode uploaded files that do not meet its recommended settings, while its plans and stream settings determine the output sent to YouTube. That is different from confirming how the service scales, crops, or fits each clip when the playlist switches between resolutions.
Three resolutions determine what viewers see
“Quality” can refer to three different things, so an output setting alone cannot answer whether every clip looks consistent:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Source resolution: the pixel dimensions of each uploaded video, such as 1280×720 (720p) or 1920×1080 (1080p).
- LiveReacting output: the resolution and frame rate selected for the stream it sends to YouTube. LiveReacting describes output quality as plan- and settings-dependent.
- YouTube playback renditions: the viewing options YouTube makes available after receiving the live feed.
A higher output setting does not add detail that a lower-resolution source clip never contained. And LiveReacting’s general ability to encode a file does not establish whether it upscales or downscales clips independently, preserves aspect ratio, or uses another fitting method in a mixed-resolution playlist.

What LiveReacting documents—and what it does not
LiveReacting’s recommended video file settings list MP4, M4V, MOV, FLV, WEBM, OGV, 3GP, WMV, AVI, and MKV as recommended formats, with H.264 video and AAC audio. The page says files outside the recommended settings may still be uploaded and encoded. It does not explain exactly how differently sized clips in one playlist are normalized or fitted.

For YouTube, LiveReacting’s YouTube settings help says you can set a custom stream video bitrate or use Auto, which bases the rate on project settings. It recommends 128 Kbps audio unless you know the destination supports a higher input rate.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteHow to check a mixed-resolution playlist before relying on it
- Inventory the clips. Note each file’s resolution, frame rate, aspect ratio, codec, and bitrate. Compare them with LiveReacting’s recommended settings rather than assuming that accepted uploads will all look alike.
- Choose the stream output. Check the output resolution and frame rate available on your current LiveReacting plan. Choose a target suited to the strongest source material and your stream needs; a higher target cannot restore detail missing from a lower-resolution clip.
- Set the format before going live. LiveReacting’s format article describes landscape (1280×720), square (720×720), and portrait (720×1280) examples and says resolution cannot be changed during a live broadcast. That article is dated January 13, 2020, so confirm the current controls in the studio before your stream.
- Run a controlled test. Start a private or otherwise controlled YouTube test and watch transitions between the different source resolutions. Check the picture on the stream itself, not only the uploaded files.
- Review YouTube’s live health indicators. YouTube diagnostics can flag issues such as unsupported or suboptimal resolution, insufficient video output, and mismatches between primary and backup streams. These diagnostics describe the incoming feed; they do not reveal LiveReacting’s internal treatment of each playlist clip.
- Ask LiveReacting about the exact case. For example: “If my playlist contains 720p and 1080p clips, what resolution does the stream send to YouTube, how is each clip scaled or cropped, and does the service guarantee consistent transitions?” The reviewed documentation does not answer those specifics.
Common quality questions and fixes
A lower-resolution clip looks softer than the rest
That can be expected when lower-resolution material appears in a higher-resolution output: the output setting does not create the missing source detail. Check the source file and compare it with the other clips. If the softness is unexpected, ask LiveReacting how that file is being fitted and encoded.

The picture is cropped, stretched, or letterboxed
The reviewed LiveReacting documentation does not specify how every aspect ratio is fitted in a mixed-resolution playlist. Check each clip’s aspect ratio and the project format, then verify the result in a controlled test. Ask LiveReacting whether the current studio preserves proportions, crops, or adds padding for your combination.
YouTube reports a stream health issue
Use YouTube’s diagnostic to identify whether the reported issue concerns resolution, video output, or another incoming-feed setting. Check the LiveReacting output and bitrate settings against the warning; a YouTube health message alone cannot confirm how individual source files were handled.
