No. FSR support is game- and feature-specific: a graphics card that can run AMD’s ML-based upscaling does not make it available in every game, and general FSR support does not guarantee support for FSR Upscaling or frame generation. AMD now calls FSR 4 FSR Upscaling, part of its broader FSR “Redstone” suite. The practical checks are your exact game, the feature you want, and your GPU and driver.
What “FSR 4” means now
AMD says “FSR 4 has been renamed FSR Upscaling to better distinguish between the various features that now make up FSR ‘Redstone’.” The suite comprises FSR Upscaling, FSR Frame Generation, FSR Ray Regeneration and FSR Radiance Caching. Some game menus may still use the older FSR 4 name.

These are distinct features, not one all-or-nothing compatibility mode. AMD says its FSR technologies are available in select games and require game-developer integration. A game supporting one FSR feature does not necessarily support the others.

AMD’s current documentation distinguishes ML-based upscaling from the full Redstone suite. The supported-games page also gives separate hardware and driver details, so use the feature-specific requirements rather than assuming every FSR generation needs the newest card.

| What you want to use | AMD-documented graphics support | Other conditions |
|---|---|---|
| ML-based FSR Upscaling | Radeon RX 7000 and RX 9000 Series, according to AMD’s current FAQ. AMD says RX 6000 support is planned for 2027. | The game must support the feature natively or qualify for a driver upgrade. AMD’s supported-games page describes RX 7000 support as upscaling only and specifies Adrenalin 26.6.2 or newer. |
| Full FSR “Redstone” suite | Radeon RX 9000 Series in AMD’s current overview. | Availability remains specific to the game and individual feature. AMD’s supported-games page specifies Adrenalin 25.12.1 or newer for RX 9000 Redstone technologies. |
| Driver-upgraded ML upscaling | An eligible AMD graphics card; check AMD’s per-game listing for the supported card and title. | The game needs FSR 3.1 integration and DirectX 12. |
| Driver-upgraded ML frame generation | Radeon RX 9000 Series on AMD’s supported-games page. | The game needs FSR 3.1.4 integration and DirectX 12, and the PC must run Windows 11. |
These are AMD’s documented requirements as of October 7, 2026; AMD’s compatibility list and driver versions can change. Earlier FSR generations have compatibility with older Radeon hardware, so “FSR” in a game’s feature list alone does not establish that it supports FSR Upscaling.
How to check whether your game supports the feature you want
- Identify the exact feature. Look for FSR Upscaling, frame generation, ray regeneration or radiance caching—not just a general mention of FSR.
- Check AMD’s Supported Games list. Find your title and verify the relevant feature, GPU tier and any listed driver or integration requirement. AMD says compatibility can change.
- Check the game’s graphics settings. Native integration is enabled through the game’s own menu. If the title is eligible for AMD Software’s driver-upgrade path, follow the supported-games listing and AMD’s current feature guidance.
- Confirm your driver and platform. Match the Adrenalin version and, where applicable, DirectX and Windows requirements to the specific feature. A compatible GPU by itself does not guarantee that the game will expose it.
AMD describes more than 300 games as supporting FSR technologies, but that is a broad count—not the number of games supporting every Redstone feature. Use the live list for a specific title instead of treating a general FSR count as an FSR Upscaling or frame-generation compatibility total.

Native game support versus a driver upgrade
Native integration
Some games expose ML-based upscaling through their own settings. If a game supports the feature natively, enable it there. Which options appear depends on the game’s implementation and your hardware.

AMD Software driver upgrade
AMD also says some games with existing FSR integration can be upgraded through AMD Software. For driver-upgraded ML upscaling, AMD specifies FSR 3.1 integration and DirectX 12. For driver-upgraded ML frame generation, it specifies FSR 3.1.4 integration, Windows 11 and DirectX 12. AMD’s instructions say to enable the feature in AMD Software while the game is closed, then use the game’s FSR 3.1 setting where applicable. The exact game must qualify; this path does not make FSR available in every title.

Driver and operating-system details
AMD’s current supported-games page lists Adrenalin 26.6.2 or newer for RX 7000 upscaling support and Adrenalin 25.12.1 or newer for RX 9000 Redstone technologies. Check AMD’s live compatibility list for the current entry for your game.
AMD’s Adrenalin 26.9.2 release notes, last updated September 29, 2026, list Windows 11 version 21H2 and later and Windows 10 64-bit version 21H2 and later for that driver package, subject to product-specific operating-system support. Those package-level conditions are not a guarantee that every FSR feature works on both operating systems: for example, AMD specifically requires Windows 11 for driver-upgraded ML frame generation. AMD recommends OEM drivers for laptops and all-in-one PCs when system-specific validation matters. See the Adrenalin 26.9.2 release notes.

What AMD’s performance figure does—and does not—show
AMD reports an average 3.5× performance result from its November 2025 testing of FSR “Redstone” on a Radeon RX 9070 XT. Its comparison was native 4K versus FSR Upscaling Performance mode with frame generation enabled; Ray Regeneration was enabled for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 only. This is AMD’s result under those stated conditions, not a performance guarantee for other games, settings or systems.
