Yes, the model request leaves your computer. Claude Code runs locally, but when configured for Amazon Bedrock it sends prompts, code, and other context included in the request to Bedrock for inference. Whether the request stays within a particular geographic region depends on the inference endpoint or profile you use—not simply on choosing Bedrock.
Does Claude Code keep my code local when I use Bedrock?
No. The Claude Code application runs on your machine, but model inference happens remotely. When Claude Code is configured for Bedrock, it calls Bedrock’s model APIs or inference profiles. The input needed to answer a request—including any code or surrounding context Claude Code includes—is sent to the selected Bedrock endpoint for processing. Anthropic describes the integration in its Claude on Amazon Bedrock documentation; its Claude Code setup documentation provides local-client and provider-configuration context.
That is different from saying the full project is uploaded for every request: the relevant point is that whatever context is included in a model request is transmitted to Bedrock. The client being local does not make inference local.
Can Bedrock route Claude requests outside my region?
It can, depending on the endpoint or inference profile. Anthropic describes global endpoints as using dynamic routing for availability, while regional endpoints provide routing through designated geographic regions. Anthropic characterizes regional endpoints as “Guaranteed data routing through specific geographic regions.” If regional routing matters, identify the actual profile and region in use rather than relying on the general label “Bedrock.”

#1 Best Overall
- OTP Token in card format that provides secure remote access with strong authentication
- Easy to use and easy to carry, same size as a credit card
- Zero footprint; No software on end-user PCs
- Compliant to OATH open standard (time based - 6 digits)
- Expected battery life is 3 years or approximately 15,000 clicks
Endpoint and model availability vary. A regional endpoint description is useful for understanding routing, but it does not by itself settle every legal, contractual, or organizational data-residency requirement. Confirm that the particular model, profile, account configuration, and applicable terms meet your requirements. See Anthropic’s endpoint guidance.
Does Claude Code send telemetry when I use AWS Bedrock?
Anthropic documents operational telemetry, error reporting, and bug reporting as data flows separate from model inference. For Bedrock use, Anthropic says these are disabled by default. Its data-use documentation also says Statsig telemetry covers operational measures such as latency, reliability, and usage patterns and does not include code or file paths.

- FIDO2 & Passkey Ready: Business-ready and FIDO2 L1 certified. This key is supported by major management suites and is ideal for both individual and enterprise deployment. Works seamlessly with Gmail, Facebook, GitHub, Dropbox, Coinbase, and more.
- Dedicated Manager App: Use the Thetis Manager App for the initial hardware PIN setup. Setting the PIN on the device first ensures a smooth registration process. Once the PIN is configured, you can begin registering the key across your favorite FIDO2-compatible online services.
- Universal Connectivity (USB-C, USB-A, & NFC): Designed for PCs, Macs, iPhones, and Android. For mobile use, simply unfold the key, align it with your phone’s NFC antenna, and hold for a few seconds to authenticate.
- Enhanced MFA (FIDO2 & TOTP/HOTP): Strengthen your security with flexible options. Use the Manager App to access TOTP/HOTP features for accounts that do not yet support FIDO2.
- Check FIDO2 compatibility before purchase - Known limitations: ID Austria is not supported (requires FIDO2 Level 2). Windows Hello login only works with Windows Enterprise editions that support Entra ID. NFC is supported only through mobile authentication, Not MacOS/windows.
Treat these as Anthropic’s documented defaults, not a guarantee for every release or customized environment. Check the version and settings actually deployed. Anthropic explains the provider-specific behavior in Claude Code data usage.
Can Bedrock logs contain prompts and completions?
Yes, if Bedrock invocation logging is configured to capture them. Invocation logging is a separate customer-side setting; do not assume it is enabled or disabled without checking the account. Anthropic’s Bedrock documentation says enabling the service does not give AWS or Anthropic access to the content. In practice, review the configured logging destination, who can access it, and how long the data is retained. See Anthropic’s Bedrock integration documentation.

What to check before using Claude Code with Bedrock
- Provider and model route: Confirm Claude Code is using Bedrock and identify the active model or inference-profile identifier.
- Region and endpoint type: Establish whether the profile uses global or regional routing, and which region applies.
- Invocation logging: Check whether logging is configured, what it captures, where records are stored, and the access and retention controls.
- Client data settings: Verify the installed Claude Code version and the telemetry, error-reporting, and bug-reporting settings rather than assuming defaults are unchanged.
- Network path: Determine whether connections go directly to Bedrock or through an organization-managed proxy or gateway.
Claude Code documents standard HTTP and HTTPS proxy support in its corporate proxy configuration guide. A managed proxy may route or inspect traffic according to your organization’s configuration. The destinations documented for Claude API access, telemetry, and error reporting should not be read as proof that all are contacted when using Bedrock; Anthropic documents Bedrock-specific defaults separately.

There are two different questions: whether data leaves your computer, and where Bedrock routes or records it. For inference, prompts and included code leave the computer and are sent to Bedrock. Their geographic route depends on the endpoint or profile. Separately, customer logging, network controls, and local settings affect other data flows. So “using Bedrock” alone is not enough to establish that code never leaves a particular region, is never logged, or remains within a specific organizational boundary.
