Possibly—but there’s no reliable evidence here to show how many people do. As of October 5, 2026, the official HMD pages reviewed mark the Nokia XR21 and Nokia X30 5G as discontinued and no longer available. HMD’s active smartphone directory presents HMD-branded phones, while Nokia-branded devices sit in a separate directory. That points to no currently prominent Nokia flagship in HMD’s active lineup; it does not rule out old stock at retailers or a future launch.
What counts as a Nokia flagship today?
The question has two parts: whether Nokia-branded phones are on sale as current flagship products, and whether consumers would buy one if it existed. The official product pages reviewed answer the first more clearly than the second.

HMD’s Nokia XR21 and X30 5G pages both say the phones are discontinued and no longer available. The XR21 is positioned around ruggedness; the X30 5G around recycled materials and camera features. Those examples help explain the recent Nokia-phone range, but the available evidence does not establish either as a current top-tier flagship or show that either is available new now.
HMD’s current smartphone directory features HMD-branded devices and directs people looking for Nokia products to a separate Nokia section. HMD cautions that availability varies by country. A model appearing in a directory is not proof that it is in stock. HMD’s Nokia directory lists models including the G42 5G, XR21, C32, G22, X30 5G and XR20, but its entries do not establish current retail availability.

What the recent Nokia phones were built to do
Nokia XR21: ruggedness first
HMD describes the XR21 as a rugged 5G phone, with features such as wet-hand and glove use and quick-access buttons. Its page claims a two-day battery under HMD’s stated test conditions. It also says the device underwent MIL-STD-810H testing for drop protection up to 1.5 metres; separately, the page’s main copy says it can withstand drops of 1.8 metres. Those are distinct statements, not a single certification claim. HMD currently labels the phone discontinued and says it is no longer available. Nokia XR21 product page.
Nokia X30 5G: materials and camera positioning
HMD’s X30 5G page highlights recycled materials, a 6.43-inch 90 Hz display and PureView camera features. It too is marked discontinued and no longer available. Update and warranty commitments differ among localized versions of the page, so check the page for your country and exact model rather than assuming one market’s terms apply everywhere. Does anyone actually want a new Nokia flagship?
That remains an open question. The official materials reviewed do not provide a representative consumer-demand statistic, sales evidence showing broad appetite for a Nokia flagship, or a named consumer quotation that answers the question. Product descriptions and nostalgia can show what a brand means to some people; they cannot establish market-wide demand.

HMD announced a multi-brand strategy in 2023 and described the Nokia XR21 as its first 5G smartphone manufactured in Europe. That is portfolio history, not evidence of a current flagship plan. In the same announcement, HMD repeated a Canalys forecast of 7% growth in the European smartphone market in 2024. It was a 2023 forecast, not a realized result or a measure of demand for Nokia phones. HMD also said it created 50 Nokia XR21 Limited Edition phones, with 30 planned as the first devices off the European assembly line to reach the Nokia online store; that limited run is not the XR21’s total sales figure. Why Nokia the network company is not a phone roadmap
Nokia Corporation’s 2025 annual report discusses corporate priorities including connectivity, AI-native networks and 6G. That is network-company context, not an announcement of a consumer smartphone comeback. HMD’s Nokia phone pages and Nokia Corporation’s network strategy answer different questions. What to check before buying a Nokia phone
If you find a listing, treat a discontinued model as a used, refurbished or old-stock purchase unless the seller clearly establishes otherwise. Check the seller and device condition, return terms, compatibility with your carrier and the phone’s current software-support status. HMD’s pages do not establish live retailer stock or used-market prices, and regional availability can differ.
For a future Nokia flagship, a useful comparison would need to cover current availability and regional support, price, processor and sustained performance, camera hardware and software, update duration and cadence, repairability and parts access, durability, battery and charging, and carrier compatibility. Until there is a current phone and verifiable pricing and support information, comparisons with other flagships would be hypothetical—not a live head-to-head assessment.
