It may run, but Aniimo is not listed as Steam Deck Verified or Playable. The Steam store listing reports its Deck compatibility as Unknown, and Aniimo Support said in a September 2026 FAQ that full Deck compatibility was still being worked on. If the game crashes, support relays a community workaround: force Proton 10.0.0-4. For controller problems, the developer recommends disabling Steam Input and restarting the game. These steps are not a guarantee, and compatibility may change with updates, so check the current rating on the game’s Steam page or in your Library.
What Steam Deck’s Unknown rating means
Valve’s Unknown category means, “We haven’t checked this game for compatibility yet.” It is not a verdict that Aniimo cannot run, but a successful launch by one player does not change the game’s formal rating. Valve’s Deck review considers input, display, seamlessness, and Proton system support; its categories distinguish games that work out of the box from those needing tweaks or currently not functioning. Valve’s compatibility categories and review criteria explain the labels.
The Steam listing shows Aniimo as Unknown, rather than Verified or Playable. In a launch FAQ last edited September 19, 2026, Aniimo Support wrote, “We’re still working on full Steam Deck compatibility for Aniimo.” That is a time-specific support statement, not confirmation of the game’s status after later updates. Steam’s Aniimo store listing is the place to check the live badge and requirements.
Try these fixes in order
If Aniimo crashes: force Proton 10.0.0-4
- In Steam, open Library and select Aniimo.
- Open the game’s Properties, then Compatibility.
- Enable the option to force a specific Steam Play compatibility tool, then select Proton 10.0.0-4.
- Launch the game again and see whether the crash persists.
Aniimo Support relayed this as a community workaround for Steam Deck crashes; it is not an official compatibility guarantee. A Steam Community tester reported trying Proton 9.0-4 or 10.0-4 on September 18, 2026, and said other versions were not tested. That is one player’s dated report, not a supported Proton version matrix. Aniimo Support’s launch FAQ contains the workaround.

This is the controller troubleshooting step given by Aniimo Support in the same FAQ. If it does not help, note the exact behavior before changing other settings.
If setup or menus are difficult to navigate
One tester reported needing a mouse or trackpad during initial setup and finding some menus awkward; they also said touchscreen taps helped. This is an individual account, so it does not establish that every Deck user will encounter the same limitation. Keep a touchscreen, trackpad, or mouse available as a fallback if controller navigation blocks progress. The September 18, 2026 Steam Community report describes that player’s experience.

What to record if the fixes do not work
Before contacting the game’s support channel, note the Proton version, SteamOS version, Aniimo version, Deck model, and the exact failure (for example, crash on launch, no controller input, or a menu that will not advance). These details help distinguish a launch crash from an input or navigation issue.

The Windows PC requirements on the store page are not proof of SteamOS or Steam Deck compatibility. The listing specifies Windows 10, 8 GB RAM, and 40 GB available storage. Windows 10 is the listed minimum operating system for the PC version; it does not establish that Aniimo is supported on SteamOS. Check Aniimo’s current Steam listing for any changes to those details.
