It depends on the exact HP ENVY x360 configuration. HP lists an integrated fingerprint reader on the ENVY x360 15-ds1097nr, while the 15-ey0797nr page describes an infrared sensor for Windows Hello face recognition instead. Check the product number and its specifications before assuming your laptop has a fingerprint scanner.
Why the ENVY x360 name isn’t enough
ENVY x360 is a product family, not one fixed hardware configuration. HP’s specifications show that biometric hardware can differ between models: the ENVY x360 15-ds1097nr lists a fingerprint reader, while HP describes the ENVY x360 15-ey0797nr as having an infrared sensor for Windows Hello face recognition.

That means neither the ENVY x360 name nor a general mention of Windows Hello confirms fingerprint support. HP describes Windows Hello as offering fingerprint or facial sign-in on products equipped with the corresponding hardware. The infrared camera is a separate way to use face recognition; it is not a fingerprint reader.

How to check your exact laptop
- Find the product number. Check the product label or the device information shown in Windows. Use the full model or product number, rather than searching only for “HP ENVY x360.”
- Look up that number in HP’s specifications. Check the product-specific page for an explicit fingerprint-reader listing. If it describes an infrared camera or sensor for Windows Hello face recognition, that identifies a face-sign-in feature, not fingerprint hardware.
- Confirm in Windows. Open Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options. If the laptop has a fingerprint reader, Windows may offer Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello) for setup. An available face-recognition option is distinct.
HP’s Windows Hello setup guide directs users to Settings, Accounts, and Sign-in options, then to Fingerprint recognition or Facial recognition and Set up. The fingerprint option requires a fingerprint reader; its presence or absence is not by itself a substitute for checking the laptop’s exact specifications.

Examples of different configurations
| ENVY x360 model | Published authentication information | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| 15-ds1097nr | HP lists an integrated fingerprint reader. | At least one ENVY x360 configuration has a fingerprint reader. HP’s page showed the model out of stock when reviewed, so check current availability. |
| 15-ey0797nr | HP describes an infrared sensor for Windows Hello face recognition. | Face recognition is a different biometric method from fingerprint sign-in. |
| 15-cn0013nr | An accepted HP Support Community response says it has no fingerprint scanner and has an IR camera for face detection. | A model-specific historical example; use HP’s specifications as the primary check for a particular configuration. |
What you can conclude for the product family
Some HP ENVY x360 configurations have fingerprint readers, and others use different biometric hardware or may not include a fingerprint scanner. The cited examples do not establish what share of the whole family has readers, so a family-wide yes or no would be misleading. For a laptop you own—or one you plan to buy—verify the exact product number and confirm that its specifications explicitly list a fingerprint reader.
