It depends on which app you mean. AA Daily Reflection by Steve Bilogan works offline for reading: its privacy policy says the daily readings are bundled with the app. That policy does not describe an API key requirement. For the similarly named AA Daily Reflections by dylix on Google Play, the public listing does not say whether reading works offline or whether an API key is needed.
First, identify which AA Daily Reflections app you have
More than one app uses a nearly identical name, and their store listings do not establish the same technical details. Check the developer name on the app’s store page before relying on an offline answer.
| App listing | What is established about connectivity | What is established about an API key |
|---|---|---|
| AA Daily Reflection — Steve Bilogan, Apple App Store | The developer’s privacy policy says readings are bundled in the app and can be read without a network connection. | The policy does not state that users need an API key; it says the app has no user accounts. |
| AA Daily Reflections — dylix, Google Play | The listing does not state whether readings require internet access. | The listing does not state whether users need a key. Its release note says “Minor Bug Fixes. API Update,” which does not establish a user-facing requirement. |
Can you use Steve Bilogan’s app offline?
Yes. Steve Bilogan’s DailyReflection privacy policy, effective September 22, 2026, says: “The daily readings are bundled with the Application, so reading them does not require a network connection, and daily notifications are scheduled locally by your device.” This means the readings are stored with the app rather than fetched from an online service each time you open them.
The policy also says there are no user accounts. It does not describe a user-facing API key or say that one is needed to read reflections. This answer applies to the Steve Bilogan app, not to every app with a similar name.

What does the dylix app’s “API Update” mean?
Google Play’s listing for AA Daily Reflections by dylix describes book readings and sobriety-time tracking, but it does not document offline behavior or an API-key requirement. The release note “Minor Bug Fixes. API Update.” only establishes that the developer mentioned an API update; it does not explain what the API does, whether it requires a connection, or whether users must supply credentials.
So if your listing names dylix, the reliable answer from the published listing is that these requirements are not stated. Do not treat “API Update” as proof that you need a key—or proof that the app works offline. The listing showed 100K+ downloads when observed on October 4, 2026; that figure does not answer either technical question.

How to check the app you installed
- Open the app’s store listing. On iPhone or iPad, check the Apple App Store entry; on Android, check the Google Play entry.
- Match the developer name. Look for Steve Bilogan or dylix. Do not assume that another app, including Everything AA, has the same offline behavior.
- Apply only the matching evidence. For Steve Bilogan’s app, the published policy confirms offline reading. For dylix’s listing, offline reading and API-key needs are not documented.
Is the printed Daily Reflections book required?
No. Alcoholics Anonymous World Services describes Daily Reflections as a book of reflections by A.A. members and lists English, Spanish, and French editions. It is an optional print alternative, not a prerequisite established for using either app.
